All the news they didn't see fit to print!

The pursuit of Constitutionally grounded governance, freedom and individual liberty
"There is but one straight course, and that is to seek truth and pursue it steadily." --George Washington

What’s it going to take?  I just finished reading Andrew C. McCarthy’s excellent article appearing in today’s National Review Online, titled “Obama’s Massive Fraud.”  McCarthy points out that Martha Stewart was sent to federal prison for doing essentially the same thing Obama has done on a vastly larger scale, with his fraudulent sales pitch of Obamacare–intentionally misrepresenting a situation, knowing that the lie would harm others financially. McCarthy also describes how CEOs of various firms are routinely dragged into court, sued and prosecuted, even jailed for decades, by Obama’s own administration, for frauds based on omissions of information that utterly pale in comparison to the devastating proportions of the socialist Obamacare scam.

Sugar, Salt Next Targets of FDA after Trans Fats?

It might be time to start stocking up on pretzels and Hershey bars. On Thursday, the Food and Drug Administration told Americans that eating trans fats is no longer permitted in their diets. Now it looks like sugar and salt are next on their list of banned foods additives, with several leading scientists believing the FDA will move forward on these prohibitions.

A new study by the American Enterprise Institute; "Do Political Protests Matter? Evidence from the Tea Party Movement" - finds that the movement boosted Republican turnout by three to six million votes in the 2010 election. This effect was blunted in the 2012 election, though, because growth in the movement stalled.

That slowdown happened, co-author and AEI economist Stan Veuger notes, at the same time that the IRS began coming down hard on these groups. He argues in a RealClearMarkets.com article that this most likely had a major impact in the 2012 election. "The founders, members, and donors of new Tea Party groups found themselves incapable of exercising their constitutional rights, and the Tea Party's impact was muted in the 2012 election cycle," Veuger said.

Let’s call this the Democratic Senate Self-Preservation Act. As we discover how pitifully small a number have signed up for this disaster, panicked Democrats are fleeing the sinking ObamaCare ship.

Sen. Kay Hagan (D-N.C.) will ask two oversight agencies for a full-blown investigation into the problems surrounding the ObamaCare launch. Hagan, who is up for reelection in 2014, is asking her Senate colleagues to co-sign a letter asking two agencies to conduct “a complete, thorough investigation to determine the causes of the design and implementation failures of HealthCare.Gov. These problems are simply unacceptable, and Americans deserve answers and swift solutions,” Hagan writes in a letter obtained by The Hill. “Taxpayers are owed a full and transparent accounting of how the vendors contracted to build the site failed to launch it successfully.”

We were just asking for it. This is, essentially, what Century Foundation fellow Michael Cohen took to the pages of the New York Daily News on Monday to say. In a profound scolding, Cohen diagnoses America’s “immaturity” as demonstrated by the backlash against President Barack Obama over to his oft-repeated and false claim that every American who was happy with their health insurance would be able to keep their health insurance.

Even as President Barack Obama sold a new health care law in part by assuring Americans they would be able to keep their insurance plans, his administration knew that tens of millions of people actually could lose those their policies. “If you like your private health insurance plan, you can keep your plan. Period,” Obama said as he pitched the plan, the unqualified promise he made repeatedly.
