The pursuit of Constitutionally grounded governance, freedom
and individual liberty
"There
is but one straight course, and that is to seek truth and pursue it
steadily." --George
Washington

A Democratic wish list contains 12 examples of the types of “tax loopholes” that they would like to see closed in a year-end budget deal. Most have been proposed many times before. Combined, the items on the list would raise $264 billion in revenue over 10 years, more than enough to switch off two years' worth of the automatic budget cuts known as sequestration.

NBC's Chuck Todd's interview with
President Obama Thursday immediately drilled down on the president's
relentlessly repeated lie that under ObamaCare you can keep your current
insurance plan if you like it. The full interview is even more impressive
than the clips that have been going around. Even after he elicits a
"sorry" out of Obama, Todd keeps after the point for almost ten
minutes.
Ultimately, though, Todd came away
with the impression that Obama doesn't believe he lied. And Todd is probably right,
which is a very unnerving.

Though the national unemployment
rate is 7.3%, the “real” unemployment rate is a broader measure of the number
of people in the United States, 16 and older, currently looking for jobs.
Known as the U-6 unemployment rate,
this “real” unemployment figure, seasonally adjusted, includes the unemployed
“plus all persons marginally attached to the labor force, plus total employed
part time for economic reasons ….”

future must not belong to those who slander the Prophet of Islam”
2. “The
sweetest sound I know is the Muslim call to prayer”
3. “We
will convey our deep appreciation for the Islamic faith, which has done so much
over the centuries to shape the world — including in my own country.”
4. “As
a student of history, I also know civilization’s debt to Islam.”

Evolutionists try to make everything
about human nature a product of an unguided, naturalistic ancestry. Then
why have sermons or seminars on doing the right thing?
It matters that we help others: The BBC News asked if it matters that we help others,
launching into the history of George Price and J.B.S. Haldane who “evolved”
altruism as “self-interest in disguise”.

Using Logic versus Feelings, this is
a standard political ploy that has been used from time immemorial. You can see
examples of this on the news all the time, reporters rushing up to victims and asking
them how they feel, not what happened or why it happened, but their feelings.
You also see it nowadays in press conferences or speeches by politicians. They
always have to have a group of “victims” standing behind them to “illustrate”
how awful some condition is and how these poor people are being mistreated.

There’s been no end to the criticism
Common Core has received—and this lesson for an English class is a good example
why:
It's exactly what critics of the
Common Core school curriculum warned about: Partisan political statements
masquerading as English lessons finding their way into elementary school
classrooms.

As if the millions of Americans set
to lose their existing health insurance coverage as a result of Obamacare were
not bad enough, a recent survey by Watchdog.org has
found that many top hospitals across the nation will no longer be accessible to
the average person with a new “eligible” plan. In fact, many
major hospitals are being excluded from Obamacare coverage altogether,
which means that millions of previously covered individuals will have to settle
for subpar care at other “in-network” facilities.

Restoring
a real middle class
By Reuven Brenner
In an interview last week, President Barack Obama correctly emphasized both that "upside mobility was part and parcel of who we were as Americans" and also that such mobility has been "eroding over the last 20, 30 years, well before the financial crisis". The question is: What can Washington do to remedy the situation?
In order to narrow down the possible answers, here is a brief recap of events that brought about the vanishing middle classes in the US (and other Western countries as well).
After World War II and well until the 1990s, the United States enjoyed an influx of both highly skilled, ambitious people who were escaping a world largely ruled by dictatorial and unstable regimes and capital. Hundreds of millions of people, those with skills, drive and intelligence equal to those lucky enough to be born in the West or reach its shores were trapped behind iron and other dictatorial curtains.
