All the news they didn't see fit to print!

The pursuit of Constitutionally grounded governance, freedom and individual liberty

Forty House Republicans filed a brief last week in support of a legal challenge against ObamaCare that argues the law imposes billions of dollars in new taxes but did not originate in the House, as tax bills must under the Constitution.

Rep. Trent Franks (R-Ariz.) spearheaded the effort by filing a "friend of the court" brief on Friday with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit. That brief argued that ObamaCare violated the Origination Clause of the Constitution, which holds that all bills for raising revenue "shall originate in the House."

Oh, Bill Clinton.  Just as the Obama White House was scrambling to keep Democrats from jumping ship on the double disaster of ObamaCare – people thrown off their insurance because of an ideological decision who are now unable to buy new policies because of technical incompetence – the former president thought he ought to offer his two cents.
“I personally believe even if it takes a change in the law, the president should honor the commitment the federal government made to those people and let them keep what they got,” the Big Dog told Ozy, the new liberal news site launched by some of the Clintons’ friends and allies.

But the current Democrat in the White House didn’t honor that commitment on purpose. This is the plan. It’s only because his administration is bad at the Internet that the millions of disrupted policies are even being treated as a problem by the administration.

T
he fifth and sixth years of a presidency often end up being high noon for judicial politics. This time the first confrontation concerns the powerful D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals, the venue for many important regulatory issues and a training ground for future Supreme Court justices.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid says he intends to force a vote this week on the nomination of Cornelia Pillard to the court. Pillard’s is one of three nominations Republicans are opposing. They say the Democrats are trying to pack the court. The Democrats say they’re just trying to fill vacancies and argue that the Republicans’ behavior is so abusive they’ll restrict the filibuster if it continues.

As the list of Democrats distancing themselves from Barack Obama and his so-called "Affordable Care Act" continues to grow, Obama imparted this remarkable observation:
"When we buy IT services generally, it is so bureaucratic and so cumbersome that a whole bunch of it doesn't work or ends up being way over cost. ... Once we get this particular website fixed they're going to be some lessons learned we can apply to the federal government in general."

Evidently, Obama is conjunctionally challenged when he says, "it doesn't work OR ends up being way over cost." The correct conjunction in this case is, of course, "and." But his claim that "cumbersome bureaucracy" is to blame is entirely accurate, and that is true across the full spectrum of our bloated central bureaucracy. Other key Obama administration officials agree.

I remember how the critics attacked George Bush and his administration after the FEMA response to Hurricane Katrina. Much of the anger was probably deserved.
But how does that look now?

Obamacare is not a botched response to a disaster. It is the disaster.
Right now it looks like thousands of people believe they have been signed up for Medicaid that are in for a nasty surprise when they go to the doctor. Millions are losing their insurance. Many millions more, the employees of small businesses, will lose their insurance in 2014. Many are discovering insurance is less affordable as a result of the law. The Disaster!

A man known as Josh Billings, one of the leading American humorists during the second half of the nineteenth century, once said this:
“It ain’t what a man don’t know that makes him a fool…It’s all the things he does know…that just ain’t so.”

I think we can heartily agree that it’s a problem when a man or woman takes action based on beliefs that are flawed.  It’s really a recipe for disaster.

The same is true for a culture and its government.  No matter how much we might believe something to be true, if we take action based on things that turn out NOT to be true, the results are usually very bad.
