Muslim writer makes plain the desire to call people to activism while ignoring the real problem

Muslim writer makes plain the desire to call people to activism while ignoring the real problem

Her call? It’s time to choose: Stand up to hate or sink into division

Below are excerpts with responses to her declarations….

This is a watershed moment in our nation’s history as we struggle to overcome racism, xenophobia, Islamophobia, misogyny, etc. Normally, we Americans could expect our president, the leader of our nation, to be at the forefront of this struggle, lighting the way toward a brighter future for all Americans. Instead, our president has chosen to produce and amplify messages of hate, marginalization and division, tearing our nation apart.
First, she misrepresents the moment as compared to U.S. history. The watershed is the invasion of Muslims that refuse to become a part of the American Culture. Secondly, she lies about Trump as the cause. In his words and behavior, he is not.

We have all seen more than the usual level of prejudice over the past three years, targeting nearly every minority community. American Muslim families have borne the brunt of this bigotry for more than a decade.
Here, she admits a lot of her complaints pre-date Trump.

The effect on all minority communities has been huge increases in discrimination, hate crimes and the bullying of children. The negative effect on the future of our nation, our families and communities is hard to overestimate.
Again, a vacant declaration. No citations or supporting data.

So, what are we, as fair-minded Americans, to do? In circumstances like these, it’s up to each one of us to set examples with our own actions and help lead the way toward a better future, for our families, our communities and our nation. While those who spread hatred and division claim their right to free speech, we must choose to firmly grasp our own freedom of speech to turn back the tide of negativity that threatens to engulf us all.
I’ve listened to this woman and what she has written for a number of years. It is Free Speech that allows this. CAIR (she is one of their executive directors) has been declared to be exactly what she says is wrong. Speech keeps us free!

Every one of us, as fair-minded Americans, can use our freedom of speech to inspire our fellow Americans to be their best selves.
So, if you agree with her you are fair-minded. If not, sorry, you must not be fair! She completely ignores the foundation of our country that is clearly spelled out in the Declaration of Independence. The love for and the commitment to those principles and truths called out is what makes us uniquely Americans!

Our voices, amplified through media and other platforms, can help inspire millions of fair-minded fellow Americans to do their part to build inclusive communities, to find solutions to the challenges of the future. We all have talents, abilities, ideas and networks that we can and must use to start repairing the damage that has been done to the fabric of our nation. It can’t wait until next month or next year. Each of us can start by visiting a mosque, a synagogue or a church of a different denomination so that we can truly get to know one another. Then, we can inspire our fellow Americans to also do the same by talking to family, friends, neighbors and co-workers, and by using social media to reach beyond those circles.
One’s religion or any other factor really comes into play in her world view. It is not simply thoughts, it is behavior. When one or more people kill large numbers of innocents, we judge the behavior. If those responsible, claim a particular allegiance, we judge that as well.

This country is our home, and it is one of the most beautiful, and beautifully diverse, places in God’s amazing creation. I truly believe that if we can all work together and raise our voices for good, we can help make it the best it can be.
Again, she ignores the harsh reality of what is going on in our nation and others. Muslims are arriving and not assimilating into the American Culture.  They demand Sharia Law and want our Nation to bend to Islamic belief. Going to a Mosque or another person’s place of worship will not change that. How can we be one nation if we have those that come in (some say invade) to our countries and refuse to assimilate?

CAIR may be what they are accused of being. That is not my purpose here. I have read the Koran and know the Bible. I can find no way these two beliefs can co-exist; for one is diametrically opposed to the other in all ways.

The problem is serious – and it’s getting worse because of writers like Eugene Robinson at the Washington Post!

The problem is serious – and it’s getting worse because of writers like
Eugene Robinson at the Washington Post!

Here are excerpts from a recent article Eugene Robinson wrote with commentary.

How long are we going to pretend that President Trump is fully rational? How long are we going to ignore the signs that he is dangerously out of control?
Two questions that set the tone for the rest of the article that has no connection to reality.

Trump’s supporters comfort themselves with the idea that he’s being crazy like a fox – that all the outrageous lies, abrupt reversals, bizarre pronouncements and vicious personal attacks are calculated to achieve some rational goal. He’s just playing to his base, perhaps, or distracting everyone from unpopular legislation cutting taxes for the rich, or trying to deceive other world leaders into thinking he might be unhinged and therefore should be accommodated.
Change out the name “Trump” with any number of liberal Democrats and the rest of the paragraph would remain the same with one exception. That would be he is wrong about Trump.

But what evidence is there of calculation? Congress may indeed pass a slapped-together tax bill, but there is no indication Trump even knows what’s in it. That would be his first and only significant legislative accomplishment. His approval rating plummeted after the inauguration and has been stuck at 40 percent or below since June, according to Gallup. He has managed to alienate our closest allies – even drawing a rare rebuke this week from British Prime Minister Theresa May.
Here, Robinson asks the right question, while going on to provide answers that are opinion at best and lying at its worst.

The logical thing to do, at this point, would be to come up with a new strategy. But Trump stays his wild and erratic course, as if he simply cannot help himself. The most alarming development is the revelation that Trump continues to entertain paranoid conspiracy theories of the kind usually found beneath tinfoil hats. According to both The Washington Post and The New York Times, Trump still clings to the ridiculous “birther” theories about where former President Barack Obama was born. More delusional ranting. Robinson combines some known facts with wild statements in hopes the reader will believe. The public record is contrary to what he says.

You will recall that Obama’s birth in Hawaii has been definitively proved.
Obama’s “Photo Shopped” birth certificate did not prove anything other than there are people willing to go to any length to protect Obama.

It would be one thing if Trump were broadcasting this nonsense for a reason. I’d feel better even if he had a nefarious reason – to appeal to racists who cannot accept the legitimacy of the first black president, say, or to encourage his base to doubt everything they see and hear in the media and instead to trust only him.
Robinson goes way out on a limb and brings back into the conversation Obama and his legacy. Further, people don’t disregard the media because Trump told them. The media has created this conundrum all on their own. They have demonstrated publicly they are in the liberal progressive bag!

It is one thing to create a fantasyland for political ends – appealing to some voting group’s prejudices or giving supporters a reason to excuse bad behavior. It is another thing altogether, however, for Trump to fall into his own rabbit hole and actually believe what he once knew to be untrue. Maybe he is worried about the steamrolling Robert Mueller investigation. Or maybe his mental state is just deteriorating.
Only a delusional liberal like Robinson can go on about the mental state of Trump and writing as though the uprising against progressivism in this country is passing phenomenon. That as well as ignoring the bizarre behavior demonstrated daily by his fellow liberal Democrats in Congress: Maxine Waters, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer. And, let’s not forget Hillary and Obama!

University officials effectively shut down a “cemetery of innocents” display at the Miami University Campus in Hamilton, Ohio

University officials effectively shut down a “cemetery of innocents” display at the Miami University Campus in Hamilton, Ohio
Students sue over ‘pro-life’ protest at Miami University

Miami University students filed a lawsuit against their school’s president, trustees and other administrators over a “pro-life” protest. Attorneys with Alliance Defending Freedom on Wednesday filed a federal lawsuit on behalf of the students against Miami claiming the university violated the student's free speech rights.

Since 2015, the student group has set up a display of crosses on the university’s Central Quad to commemorate the lives lost to abortion, along with an explanatory sign.

This fall, the university officials refused to approve the display unless the students agreed to post warning signs around campus with a “trigger warning” that urged people not to view it. Officials feared the pro-life display might cause “emotional trauma” for some viewers and this would help those individuals “better protect and manage their emotional reactions to the display.”

“No university official has the authority to censor student speech simply because of how someone might respond to it,” Travis Barham, legal counsel for Alliance Defending Freedom, said.

Barham said public university administrators have an obligation to respect students’ free speech rights and, under the First Amendment, “can’t impose trigger warnings that restrict what some students can say to spare the feelings of others.”

The university has the authority to grant or deny any student group’s request to conduct an exhibit on campus. Students ask for a permit at least seven business days in advance, explain the message and purpose of their exhibit and agree to let university officials edit the display as they see fit. This “sweeping authority” allows administrators to deny permits for any reason and to control students’ messages by imposing specific conditions for approval.

What is the Motive? Mosque donates $1M for UC Islamic studies

What would be the motive for his?

Mosque donates $1M for UC Islamic studies

From the Cincinnati Enquirer

A local mosque is donating $1 million to the University of Cincinnati to increase understanding of the Islamic religion amid concerns about Islamophobia.

UC is adding a titled professorship in Islamic studies, thanks to the gift from the Islamic Center of Greater Cincinnati. Money originates from Inayat Malik and his wife, Ishrat Malik.

Dr. Inayat Malik is a retired urologist and former 18-year board chair of the Islamic Center. He came from Pakistan in 1967 to specialize in urology at UC Medical Center and was a member of the UC College of Medicine clinical faculty for 20 years.

UC’s College of Arts and Sciences will begin a formal search for a top scholar with an international reputation to fill the chair. In the spring, before undertaking the search, the college plans to invite other Islamic studies scholars as a way to learn more about the field and spread the word of its larger commitment, said Dean Kenneth Petren.

An Example of How Liberals Rationalize That Taxes Are A Good Thing!

An Example of How Liberals Rationalize That Taxes Are A Good Thing

Liberals have utilized Taxes to manipulate public policy (Your Behavior and choice) through taxes for 50 years!

Recently, a coalition of more than 100 health care, business, education and health advocacy groups comprising the Coalition for a Smoke-Free Tomorrow called on the Kentucky legislature to raise the state tax on cigarettes by $1 per pack, with parallel increases in taxes on other tobacco products.
This $1 increase would keep 23,200 of today’s youths from becoming adult smokers and prevent 5,900 infants from being born too early due to smoking during pregnancy. Another 29,400 current adult smokers would quit. (Rationalization statistics)

The increase is clearly a win for the health of Kentucky, where 8,900 residents die every year of smoking related illnesses. That’s why Kentucky health advocates support the increase. (Boogy Man Scare)

It’s also a win for business leaders in the Commonwealth, who currently lose nearly $2.8 billion every year in reduced productivity due to smoking. The extra cost for businesses adds up to an estimated $5,816 per employee every year. Economic development experts also know that Kentucky’s high smoking rate — the second-highest in the nation at 24.5 percent, right behind West Virginia, and 62 percent higher than the national average — makes it harder to attract new business and jobs to the Commonwealth. That’s why so many of Kentucky’s leading employers and economic development officials support the increase. (More rationalization using cost to justify robbing liberty)

The $1 increase also would generate more than $266 million in new revenues, which would go a long way toward filling the state’s budget shortfall, not to mention the need for funding to shore up the state’s pension systems. Cigarette tax increases are particularly effective at reducing smoking among youths, lower income smokers and pregnant women — reductions that directly decrease state Medicaid expenditures. That makes it a win for the state budget. (Using needing more revenue rather than less spending to justify)

It’s time to enact the proven measures that will reduce smoking and its related illnesses, reduced quality of life and massive health care expenditures in Kentucky. We can honor our tobacco heritage without allowing it to continue plaguing both our health and our economy. We urge you to contact your legislators and tell them you support a $1 tobacco tax increase because it’s a win-win-win for Kentucky.
Ben Chandler is chair of the Coalition for a Smoke-Free Tomorrow Steering Committee.

NOTE: Virtually every tax that has ever been introduced (sin tax) that will mitigate or correct a problem in society has failed. Not only failed, but in the ensuing years, the tax spiraled upwards without ever producing the promised or predicted benefit. It is time to stop buying left wing liberal logic for increasing taxes!

Rhodes Trustees Now Promoting Radicals?

OHIO Local woman 1 of 32 Americans named as a Rhodes Scholar
A Cincinnati woman has been named one of 32 Rhodes Scholars from the U.S.
The Rhodes Trust says 21-year-old Camille Borders, a senior at Washington University in St. Louis, was chosen from more than 850 applicants who received endorsements from their schools to study at Oxford University in England. A biography provided by the Rhodes Trust says Borders is a history major whose senior thesis examines the lives of black women after slavery.
The biography says Borders founded Washington University Students in Solidarity to address police brutality and racial profiling and was active in protests in Ferguson, Missouri, after the fatal shooting of a black man by a white officer.
She will be reading for a master’s degree in social and economic history.

Key To Happiness

How many times have you heard someone say they want to make a better world? It is a noble sentiment, but very hard to achieve, right?
Well, actually, it’s quite easy. All we have to do is increase just one human trait. This trait is so powerful that it alone can make people happier without working on their happiness, and make them better – and by “better,” I mean more generous, more honest, more kind, more everything good – without a single lesson in morality.
So, then, what is this one almost magical thing? Drumroll, please.
It’s gratitude.
You can’t be a happy person if you aren’t grateful, and you can’t be a good person if you aren’t grateful. Almost everything good flows from gratitude, and almost everything bad flows from ingratitude.
Let’s begin with ingratitude. Here’s a rule of life: ingratitude guarantees unhappiness. It is as simple as that. There isn't an ungrateful happy person on Earth. And there isn’t an ungrateful good person on Earth. There are two reasons.
Reason one is victimhood. Ingratitude always leads to or comes from victimhood. Ungrateful people—by definition—think of themselves as victims. And perceiving oneself as a victim or perceiving oneself as a member of a victim group may be the single biggest reason people hurt other people—from hurtful comments to mass murder. People who think of themselves as victims tend to believe that because they’ve been hurt by others, they can hurt others.
And the second reason ungrateful people aren’t good people is that ingratitude is always accompanied by anger. The ungrateful are angry, and angry people lash out at others. If ingratitude makes people unhappy and mean, then gratitude must make people happy and kind.
And so it does. Think of the times you have felt most grateful—were they not always accompanied by a feeling of happiness? Weren’t they also accompanied by a desire to be kinder to other people? The answer, of course, is yes. Grateful people aren’t angry and they also don’t see themselves as victims.
The problem, however—and it’s a big one, is that in America and much of the rest of the world, people are becoming less grateful. Why? Because people are constantly told that they are entitled to things they haven’t earned—what are known as “benefits” or “entitlements.” And the more things that people think they should get, the less grateful they will be for whatever they do get. And the more angry—and therefore unhappy—they will be when they don’t get them.
Here are two rules of life. Rule number one: The less you feel entitled to, the more gratitude you will feel for whatever you get and the happier you will be. Rule number two: The more you feel entitled to, the less happy you will be. That’s why, for example, children who get whatever they want are usually less happy children. We have a word for such children: spoiled. And no one thinks of a spoiled child as a happy child, and certainly not a kind one.
The more that you feel that life or society owes you, the angrier you will get, the less happy you will be. As a result, we are increasing the number of angry, unhappy, and selfish people. The other way we are making people unhappy, and even meaner, is by cultivating a sense of victimhood. People are constantly told that they are victims because of their upbringing, because of past prejudice against their group, because of material inequality, because they are female, and for many other reasons.
Next time you want to assess any social policy, ask this question first: Will this policy increase or decrease gratitude among people? You will then know whether it is something that will bring more goodness and happiness to the world—or less.
If I were granted one wish, it would be that all people be grateful. Gratitude is the source of happiness, and the source of goodness; and the more good people, and the more happy people there are walking around, the happier and better our world will be. If you have a way of achieving such a world without increasing gratitude, let me know what it is.
I'm Dennis Prager.
