How to decipher Liberal and Conservative messages, ask yourself: What problem are they trying to fix?

How to decipher Liberal and Conservative messages, ask yourself: What problem are they trying to fix?

Simply put, It ask the “What are we trying to fix?”

We live in a "solution" oriented society.  Simply watch TV ads.  They are marketing solutions for problems you may or may not have.  Moreover, when we do have a problem we want instant solutions.  Example, the unreasonable demand for antibiotics every time we even think we are sick.

I spent many years teaching problem solving at the executive levels in U.S. corporations.  Many got through school and even graduate school without learning a simple and clear methodology of problem solving.  No matter which method you use, they all start with clearly defining the problem and ends with testing the solution against the problem.
Ask this simple question.  What effect, if any, will the solution have on the problem?
You do not have to be a genius or depend upon the thinking of others much less the sound bites on political ads.  This is liberating for voters!

Let's make it simple.  When a politician, the media or some group provides a seemingly reasonable solution, go in search of the problem.  Work backwards.  You can do this in your head in a matter of minutes.  Once you get there, ask yourself the simple question; Will the solution stated have an effect on the problem and do I agree with the problem and/or the solution?

Be willing to be accountable to yourself on issues and solutions.  Be confident you can wind your way through the bias and come to your own astute conclusions.  No matter what!
