There Is 'A Very Real Possibility' ISIS Forces Have Crossed US-Mexican Border
The jihadist group the Islamic
State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS or ISIL) may have already sent militants across
the U.S.-Mexican border.
There’s the obvious great
concern that because of the condition of the border from the standpoint of it
not being secure and us not knowing who is penetrating across, that individuals
from ISIS or other terrorist states could be crossing the border.
One reason it wouldn't be
surprising for ISIS to use the U.S. border as an entry point was the historic
level of individuals crossing the border from countries with terrorist ties; migrants
from Ukraine — which, as PolitiFact has previously noted, "is not a
country with strong terrorist ties" — to make a point.
There is great concern
that the border between the United States and Mexico is insecure. And we don’t
know who’s using that. We’ve seen historic high levels of individuals from
countries with terrorist ties over the course of the last months. I’ll give you
one anecdotal picture of what’s happening: Three Ukrainian individuals were
apprehended in a ranch in far west Texas within the last 60 days.
We have no clear
evidence, but your common sense tells you when we’ve seen the number of
criminal activities that have occurred — and we are talking about the assaults,
the rapes, the murders — by individuals who have come into this country illegally
over the last five years, the idea that they would not be looking at [the
border] ... is not a good place to be.
All the while Homeland Security
is marching to the beat of the Obama administrations drum and doing nothing to
close the borders. Rather, trying to accommodate
those that have crossed. Simply the
wrong priority.
