Manufactured Border Crisis or Reality?

Manufactured Border Crisis or Reality?

The problem has been coming for a while. At first there was only a trickle of unescorted children. In 2011 the number was 6,560. It doubled the following year, and today it is nearly 10,000 a month.  Expected to be over 90,000 by year's end (low end)

Any unescorted children coming from Central America should have been a warning sign, as parents sending their children on a long and perilous journey is outside normal human nature. It is also no coincidence that this was occurring at the same time President Barack Obama mandated the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals policy by executive order. This caused many south of the border to believe that children entering the USA would not be deported. And for the "baby" issue; they are mostly boys between ages 15 and 17, and the proportion who are girls has been increasing in the last year. All the babies have been accompanied by mothers.  Some have expressed surprise when they have been detained.

Further, why are they not taking a safer route the contiguous nations next to them? Why not Mexico?  Examine Mexico's immigration laws.

Complicating the problem, The William Wilberforce Trafficking Victims Protection Re-authorization Act mandated hearings for unescorted children from non-contiguous countries before they could be ordered home. Clearly intended to interrupt human trafficking.  However, as we have come used to the unintended consequences were never thoroughly examined. The backlog of cases is long and being made longer by these children. Moreover, children sent into the custody of relatives here don’t show up for hearings. They vanish into the illegal crowd.

As for escaping violence, the violence in these countries is nothing new. What is new, is what happened in 2012 and the corresponding increase that followed.

The president is derelict in not recommending changes in the Wilberforce Act and not DACA in 2012. Congress voted for the Secure Fence Act in 2006. This law mandated a secure fence along most of the border. If that fence were there today, children couldn’t walk across the border. It is perfectly clear that the president does not want a secure border or the fence would be there. On top if this, we have Harry Reid announcing yesterday that our borders are secure!?

Obama wants an immigration law with open borders and amnesty, and it appears that he is ready to destroy the system to get Congress to enact it.
