Obama Scandals: June Update

The first time I was going to make this the handbook, in addition to Benghazi, Fast and Furious, hacking of AP telephone records, and abuses by the IRS, EPA, and HHS, then there was the NSA scandal.

May of 2014 brought a fresh scandal, this one involving the Veteran’s Administration, and another update to the handbook. But no sooner was it updated than we got a new scandal, the Bowe Bergdahl-Taliban trade. The Bergdahl and VA messes looked as bad as it could get, but we should never underestimate the Obama Administration.

June brought us news of hundreds of illegal immigrant children found in miserable conditions, and a sudden tsunami of immigrant children crashing against our southern border. And the pattern Obama has set with earlier scandals holds true with this one.

Obama expresses outrage; nobody is more upset about the situation than he is. The situation is “unacceptable”; he promises to get to the bottom of the matter and hold people “accountable.” His supporters insist that Obama himself is blameless, and that his critics are just playing politics. Time goes by, nobody is held accountable, and the pliant media forgets the story.

Anyone asking questions is ridiculed for pursuing old news. Last-ditch efforts to change the subject involve bringing up former President George W. Bush and the Iraq War. Then the Iraq that Bush secured began collapsing on Obama’s watch as those seeking the truth are derided as racist bigots.

To avoid repetition, only new information is provided. The previous handbooks contained the original scandals. With those caveats in place, here is the June 2014 updated Obama scandals user handbook.

Illegal immigrant children — Out of nowhere, the number of illegal immigrants sneaking across the Mexican border in recent weeks has skyrocketed. Border guards are overwhelmed. They have been told to not turn any immigrant away.

Illegal immigration has been an issue for some time, but the current numbers are staggering. Various shelters meant to hold up to 500 people have 1300 people in them. Children are malnourished and sick. Nobody knows how they got there.

The White House is refusing to allow pictures of the scenes, but some images have snuck through.

Other illegal immigrants are being dropped in various American cities en masse. The result has been a humanitarian crisis that is being deliberately created for political gain.

Bowe Bergdahl — Obama made a very controversial decision to release five Guantanamo Bay terrorists in exchange for Bowe Bergdahl, who had been held five years by the Taliban. Obama did not notify Congress before making the deal despite a law on the books that he signed requiring that he do so 30 days in advance.

All five Islamists released had al Qaeda ties, with one of them involved in the planning of the original 9/11 attacks. Why Obama would release Jihadists who are expected to go back to the battlefield is a question that must be answered.

The Obama Administration said that Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel signed off on the deal, but Hagel insisted that his boss was involved with the decision.

Afghanistan prison release — Reports in the last 24 hours say that attempting to empty Gitmo is the tip of the iceberg. Obama just disclosed that an Afghan prison under the auspices of the United States just released 12 terrorist detainees.

Obama released the Jihadists at the end of May but did not notify Congress until this past Thursday, June 12.

VA Abuses — The Department of Veterans Affairs scandal claimed a scalp with the forced resignation of VA Chief General John Shinseki. His stepping down will not stop the flood of questions about how many victims were affected, who altered the records, and why

Obama allowed this to happen despite knowing about the problems at the VA since 2007.

Benghazi — South Carolina Congressman Trey Gowdy, a prosecutor by trade, is heading up the House select committee. He is currently in the process of preparing subpoenas for several administration officials.

Unanswered questions include Obama’s whereabouts on the night of the Benghazi attacks, the name of the individual who gave the stand down order, and the location and public testimony of Benghazi survivors being kept hidden by the government.

Four dead Americans including Ambassador Chris Stevens and a pair of Navy SEALs occurred on the eleventh anniversary of the original 9/11 attacks.

Why the Obama administration was unprepared for the 2012 attacks is another unanswered question.

IRS abuses — One year after inadvertently waiving her Fifth Amendment rights, Lois Lerner was brought back in front of Congress. After again refusing to answer questions regarding her IRS targeting of conservative organizations, she was placed in contempt of Congress.

The IRS now claims that it lost all of Lois Lerner’s emails from 2009 through 2011 due to a computer crash. Radio commentator Mark Levin took calls from professional computer experts who made it clear that those emails would still be recoverable.

The NSA could probably obtain them.
