The pursuit of Constitutionally grounded governance, freedom and individual liberty
"There is but one straight course, and that is to seek truth and pursue it steadily." --George Washington

Ever since its birth in 7th century Arabia, Islam has been on a violent and bloodthirsty jihad against Christians. And despite the drivel of leftist politicos, pastors, bureaucrats and historical revisionists — Muslims (acting on Islamic dogma) have been the aggressors rather than the victims.

But — thanks to the above mentioned leftists — we have a profusion of spineless American Christians who have allowed themselves to be convinced that Muslims deserve victim-class status due to past injustices at the hands of those “cruel” and “nefarious” Crusaders.

For once — let’s cast aside all the politically correct bulls**t and myriad obfuscations concerning the so-called religion of peace. Thank you! What CNN pundits (and other assorted liberal windbags) refer to as the “Islamic World” (Morocco, Algeria, Egypt, Tunisia, Libya, Syria, Iraq and Iran) was once a series of thriving Christian communities before they were invaded by the Muslim hordes.

Over this past weekend, an Afghan Army special forces commander packed his Humvee truck with guns and high-tech equipment and defected to an insurgent group allied with the Taliban. According to a report, Monsif Khan, raided the supplies of his 20-man team in Kunar’s capital Asadabad over the Eid al-Adha religious holiday, joining the Hezb-e-Islami organization. He is the first special forces commander to switch sides, and made off with 30 guns, night-vision goggles, binoculars and the Humvee.

The story serves to remind us that we cannot blindly trust the leadership of the Afghan National Army. We should not allow these individuals to have sole access to this level of weaponry and equipment, especially night vision devices. First of all, it should require at minimum three individuals to gain access to the arms and sensitive equipment items, such as night vision goggles. As well, there should be random tracking devices implanted into equipment to enable tracking of these items in the case of such an incident. During my two and a half years in southern Afghanistan as a military advisor to the Afghan Army 205th Corps, there were countless instances of fuel and ammunition somehow being unaccounted for.

A well-preserved complete skull from Dmanisi, Georgia, has ignited a firestorm, threatening to declassify various claimed species of Homo into one, Homo erectus.

A paper in Science by Lordkipanidze et al. has upset the applecart of human evolution again.  (Evolutionists are in the business of upsetting applecart's).  The Abstract says,
The Dmanisi sample, which now comprises five crania, provides direct evidence for wide morphological variation within and among early Homo paleodemes. This implies the existence of a single evolving lineage of early Homo, with phylogeographic continuity across continents.

Flood of cancellation notices despite Obama's promise

To the shock of consumers who believed President Obama’s promise that they could keep their health-insurance plans if they liked them, hundreds of thousands of cancellation notices have been issued since August, according to Kaiser Health News, a service of the health insurance giant Kaiser Permanente.

The letters are going to people who buy their own coverage, which has frustrated many who want to keep what they have and has forced others to buy more costly policies.  The insurers explain that the policies are not in alignment with requirements of Obama’s Affordable Care Act that take effect Jan. 1

Barack Obama had just the solution to the train-wreck rollout of Healthcare.gov: He gave a speech. He assured us Monday in the Rose Garden that "nobody's more frustrated by that than I am" about his own website not working. Small comfort. "There's no excuse for the problems," he said. "There's no sugarcoating it." He had, of course, just spent 10 minutes trying to sugarcoat it and would continue to do so for the remainder of his lengthy remarks. In fact, the president spent 30 minutes not explaining what happened or why.

View From The Left: A lesson for moderates in the shutdown

A lesson for moderates in the shutdown

E.J. Dionne writes —
We should never govern ourselves like this again. We cannot create absolutely pointless crises that make our great democracy look foolish around the globe. We cannot give Chinese government propagandists fodder as they call for “a de-Americanized world.” We must not allow the extremist politics of a tea-party minority to turn our republic upside down. [He conveniently ignores the Constitution gives the House the power to appropriate.  However, this Child King, would not come hat in hand and ask. So who started this?]

Looking Beyond Abortion By: Breeanne Howe
A wise friend once posed a question to me on the correlation between abortion and adoption. “How can we beg these women not to abort if we don’t also take up the cause of adoption?” She was so right. If we truly believe we can end all abortion, then we must also address the fact that many of those children will end up orphans. Does that mean that we each should adopt a child into our home? I don’t think everyone is called to that, but I do think we must champion the cause of adoption as much as we work to end abortion. Not only does that mean giving time and money to worthy adoption agencies, such as Bethany Christian Services (who also helps women with unplanned pregnancies) and people who are stepping forward to adopt (shameless plug for great friends currently adopting), but it also means we need to take a closer look at our laws and opinions regarding adoption.  With so many children in need, are you really going to tell them an older single woman cannot adopt because she doesn’t fit the perfect criteria you had in mind?  And what about after adoption?
