Latest Twist in
Benghazi Saga: Did Libyan Officials Prevent Help from Reaching Americans Under
Siege?
Yesterday Secretary
of State Hillary Clinton was released from the hospital following a bout with
the flu, a concussion and a blood clot. She is reported to be preparing to
testify on the attacks that took place in Benghazi on September 11, 2012. While
the media has done all it can to help Americans forget Benghazi, many of us are
still out to keep the story front and center every week. Now there seems to be
a new twist that is coming out with regards to what took place in Benghazi and
this was in the Senate Homeland Security Committee report titled Flashing
Red: A Special Report On The Terrorist Attack At Benghazi, which has been
largely overshadowed, perhaps even orchestrated by the entire “fiscal cliff”
debacle. The Daily Beast reports, the
biggest recent development—which was overshadowed by the fiscal cliff
negotiations—came on New Year’s Eve, when the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee released a
report that raised the question of whether Libyan officials assisted the
Benghazi terrorists. The report found that a team of CIA contractors
dispatched from Tripoli to Benghazi on the night of the attacks waited at least
three hours after arriving at the Benghazi airport before departing to the
scene because of negotiations with Libyan government officials. According to the report, members of
Congress still don’t know the exact reason for the delay. “Was it simply the
result of a difficult Libyan bureaucracy and a chaotic environment or was it
part of a plot to keep American help from reaching the Americans under siege in
Benghazi?” the report asks.

“I said to myself, ‘Relax, because the LORD takes care of
you.’” (Psalm 116:7 NCV)
God has given you
the gift of your body, and it comes with an owner’s manual — the Bible. In it
are all the instructions you need to take care of yourself and live a long
life.
You already know
the basics: proper nutrition, exercise, a good night’s rest. Today I want to
look at the first of four health factors you may not have thought of for living
long and well.
Trusting God is good for your health. “Trust in the LORD
with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding” (Proverbs 3:5 NIV).
Why is trusting in God good for your health? Because when you trust him, you
don’t worry. Psalm 116:7 says, “I said to myself, ‘Relax, because the LORD is going
to take care of you’” (NCV). If you really trust in God, you’re going to be
less stressed.
The Bible says in
Proverbs 14:30, “A heart at peace gives life to the body, but envy rots the
bones” (NIV). It’s not just what you eat that matters, it’s what eats you. You
can have all the right macrobiotics and organic food, but if your body is
filled with resentment, worry, fear, lust, guilt, anger, bitterness, or any
other emotional disease, it’s going to shorten your life.
You have a choice:
- You can either worry or worship.
- You can either pray or panic.
The more you pray,
the less you’ll panic. Relax, because God will take care of you!

Mass Shooters: A Problem of People, Not Guns
Not
much of an upgrade, is it — going from the “back of the bus” to beneath it?
This past year, in headline after
headline, that’s exactly where people with mental illness have found themselves.
We need to decide how we’re going to treat them, because we can’t have it both
ways. On the medical side, we take great pains to normalize mental illness. We
want people to treat it like pneumonia, heart disease, or any other disorder:
no shame and no stigma. And then some idiot levels his gun at a crowd of innocents,
and all that goes out the window. How can we hope to achieve that goal when we
present mental illness as the catch-all explanation for every monstrous act of
violence we see splashed across the news? Does
this sound familiar? “How could anyone do such a thing? What, he’s got a mental
illness? Well, that explains it.” With
that one innocuous statement, they’re all broad-brushed, and thrown under the
bus. But it does NOT “explain it”, any more than alcoholism “explains” drunk
driving. Do we sneer at people from AA, thinking it’s only a matter of time
before they “snap”, get bombed, and drive their car over a crossing guard? No,
we don’t. Because that would be stupid. It would make two logical errors.
First, that all drunk drivers are alcoholics. You don’t have to be a chronic
drinker to get behind the wheel after one too many. Second, it doesn’t account
for the alcoholics who never get behind the wheel after drinking, or those who
dare not drink at all. Once you realize this, the “just crazy” excuse wears awfully
thin. “Crazy people do crazy things” is what the headlines might tell us, and
it might be easier to accept that the killer didn’t really comprehend what he
was doing. That might even be accurate in some instances. But I have personally
seen too many examples of seemingly irrational behavior interrupted by a clear
and rational choice to blindly accept that blanket excuse. I suggest that we
could make some positive change by not dismissing the heinous actions of bad
men (and women) as “just crazy”. What if
the problem isn’t the gun, the depression, the PTSD, or the bullying? What
about the possibility that someone actually made a cruel choice…
deliberately? Could we stop to consider
that we live in a world where we are taught moral relativism, Nihilism, that
man is merely a mammal, there is nothing after death, and nobody to give
account to when we die? In such a world, why wouldn’t some begin to live like
there is no binding and objective Right and Wrong? (Neitzsche actually
predicted this outcome.)

'We've lost respect
for life'
The
homicide rate in the city of Detroit continued a grim upward trend in 2012,
hitting its highest peak in nearly two decades, officials said Thursday. A
dwindling population — 706,585 people in 2011, according to the U.S. Census
estimate — and the rise in homicides combined to Detroit’s murder rate among
the highest in the nation, Detroit Mayor Dave Bing and Police Chief Chester
Logan announced at a press conference. “We’ve
just lost respect for each other; we’ve lost respect for life,” Bing said. “I
don’t want to say that you can forget about this generation or the generation
before us, but if we’re going to solve the problem, we’ve got to get into the
heads and the minds and the hearts of our young people, and it’s going to take
all of us to do that.” Detroit’s total of 411 homicides in 2012, up from
377 the previous year, includes 386 criminal homicides and 25 “justifiable
homicides” that included three shootings by police, according to numbers
released by the city. The number of criminal homicides increased 12
percent from 344 in 2011. The total in 2010 was 308.

ADL's Foxman: We'll
Monitor Al Jazeera for Anti-Israel Coverage By Bill Hoffmann and

The
leader of the Anti-Defamation League is reeling from Al Jazeera’s purchase of
Al Gore’s Current TV cable network and worries the pan-Arab media company may
spew anti-Israeli propaganda to a huge American audience. In an exclusive
interview with Newsmax.TV, ADL national
director Abraham Foxman says Al Jazeera has aired anti-American, anti-Israel
propaganda “and even from time to time provided a platform for anti-Semites.
“We need to monitor, we need to watch it, and we need to make sure that it’s
honest and fair," Foxman said.

Democrats Introduce
8 Anti-Gun Bills On First Day Of 113th Congress
Members of the 113th
Congress introduced 10 bills on Thursday relating to gun violence, most of
which came from Democrats seeking new restrictions on gun ownership. The flurry of legislative proposals
show that members are likely to push the issue in the wake of the December
shooting at a Connecticut elementary school that left 20 children dead. Rep.
Carolyn McCarthy (D-N.Y.), whose husband was shot to death in 1993, introduced
four of the bills. The congresswoman has vowed to seek changes in federal law
in response to the school shooting. H.R. 137 and 138 from McCarthy would
require people prohibited from buying firearms to be listed in a national
database, and would prohibit the transfer or possession of large capacity
ammunition clips. McCarthy’s H.R. 141 would require criminal background checks
on all firearms transactions at gun shows, which would close the so-called
gun-show loophole. Her H.R. 142 would require face-to-face purchases of
ammunition, the licensing of ammunition dealers, and the reporting of bulk ammo
purchases. Gun law legislation was
expected from the Democrats and many expect this to be a long and protracted
debate. However, to this level is
insane. It totally disregards the
Americans that are suffering from the ongoing economic disaster. Moreover, it is a distraction in face of the
fiscal issues facing all U.S. citizens and portends a massacre of family
budgets that will impact millions. If
only there were 8 viable bills that effectively addressed unemployment! The posturing of these
bills by the Democrats on such an emotional issue is beginning to grow
old. Continuing to distract low
knowledge voters while they ignore the huge national issues we face.

FBI: More People
Killed with Hammers, Clubs Each Year Than Rifles - some things are worth repeating
According
to the FBI annual crime statistics, the number of murders committed annually
with hammers and clubs far outnumbers the number of murders committed with a
rifle.
This
is an interesting fact, particularly amid the Democrats’ feverish push to ban
many different rifles, ostensibly to keep us safe of course. However, it
appears the zeal of Sens. like Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) and Joe Manchin (D-WV)
is misdirected. For in looking at the FBI numbers from 2005 to 2011, the number
of murders by hammers and clubs consistently exceeds the number of murders
committed with a rifle. Think about it: In 2005, the number of murders
committed with a rifle was 445, while the number of murders committed with
hammers and clubs was 605. In 2006, the number of murders committed with a
rifle was 438, while the number of murders committed with hammers and clubs was
618. And so the list goes, with the
actual numbers changing somewhat from year to year, yet the fact that more
people are killed with blunt objects each year remains constant.

Egyptian Magazine
Confirms Muslim Agents Influence Obama Administration by
Tad Cronn
GOP
concerns about Muslim Brotherhood infiltration at the highest levels of the
Obama Administration recently got confirmation from an Egyptian magazine, Rose El-Youssef. The article, which was
translated into English by the Investigative Project on Terrorism, named six
influential Muslims within and without the Obama Administration who it said
turned the White House “from a position hostile to Islamic groups
and organizations in the world to the largest and most important supporter of
the Muslim Brotherhood.” The six named in the article are: Rashad Hussain, U.S. special envoy to the Organization of
the Islamic Conference; Arif Alikhan, assistant secretary of Homeland Security
for policy development; Eboo Patel, President Obama’s Advisory Council on
Faith-Based Neighborhood Partnerships; Mohammed Elibiary, Homeland Security
Advisory Council; Salam al-Marayati, co-founder of the Muslim Public Affairs
Council; and Imam Mohamed Magid, Islamic Society of North America president. Last
June, five Republican members of Congress raised the mainstream media’s hackles
and alarmed the Left by sending a letter to Homeland Security and heads of
other agencies raising questions about infiltration of the Obama Administration
by the Muslim Brotherhood, which is an umbrella group for Islamist terrorist
groups around the world that has called for restoration of the Muslim caliphate
and ultimately global dominance. That letter was met with manufactured outrage and spin from the Left and RINOs in
Congress, such as Sen. John McCain, who tried to spin the matter as a
personal attack on Secretary of State
Hillary Clinton’s top aide, Huma Abedin, whose family has undisputed ties to
the Muslim Brotherhood. Questions about her security clearance were only a
small section of the letter, though it was almost all the mainstream media
discussed.

The
Biggest Under-Reported News Story in the World by Jerry Bowyer
Herbert
E. Meyer, who served during the Reagan administration as special assistant to
the director of Central Intelligence, and vice chairman of the CIA’s National
Intelligence Council, offers insight into the inner workings of the Reagan
Administration. In addition, Meyer offers some encouraging news about how
millions of people around the world are emerging from poverty at a rapid rate.
The
Next Big World Event No One is Paying Attention To
·
When you stand back from
all the yelling and the screaming…you can see what I believe is the most
important trend in the world…The world is emerging from poverty fast. This is the biggest under-reported
news story in the world.
·
By
1980 or 1990 about two billion human beings were out of poverty, since then
another half billion have crossed the line out of poverty; a lot of them
in India and China. In the last six years 20 million Brazilians have
emerged. When you put all these numbers together…each year between fifty and
one hundred million human beings are leaving poverty behind.
·
If
we can continue this trend within our lifetimes, and certainly within our
children’s lifetimes, the overwhelming majority of human beings will no longer
be poor. This is the biggest thing that’s happened in the entire world.
·
By
the way it’s going to be a five billion-person middle class. This will become
the most powerful force in the world. Their demand for our goods and
services will set off an economic boom…I believe that we’re heading
for not just a sonic boom, but maybe a supersonic boom.
I’m
not sure I agree with everything Herb Meyer said in our discussion, which is
why I challenged him a little bit on his optimism about the pace, or even the
possibility, of Islam’s reconciliation with modernity.

be the best answer I’ve ever heard to that question.”
4. But the “Quote of the Year” citation

‘My Wife Is a
Hero’: Georgia Mother Shoots Home Intruder Five Times After Being Cornered in
Attic
A
Georgia mother and her two young children are unharmed after a man broke into
their house with a crowbar on Friday, cornering them in an attic crawlspace. According to WSB-TV, the woman was at home with her
nine-year-old twins when the doorbell rang. When they didn’t answer, the
man reportedly went back to his car and returned with a crowbar. The mother
said she could see the suspect– now identified as Paul Slater– trying to enter
the house with the crowbar from her office window. Without hesitation,
she grabbed her children, her phone, her gun, and ran upstairs. One can only
imagine the breathless moments after the man broke down the door and began
searching the house. But the man eventually found the family. “The perpetrator
opens that door. Of course, at that time he’s staring at her, her two
children and a .38 revolver,” [Walton County Sheriff Joe Chapman] told Channel
2’s Kerry Kavanaugh. The woman then
shot him five times, but he survived, Chapman said. He said the woman
ran out of bullets but threatened to shoot the intruder if he moved.

Who Really Owns Al
Jazeera? And What’s to Become of Current TV’s Hosts?
by Mike Opelka
Since
the news broke earlier this week about the sale of Al Gore’s ultra-liberal Current TV, much has
been said about who bought the channel (Al Jazeera) and who tried — but was
rejected (Glenn Beck). Beyond that story, the media deal brings many
questions to light. Who owns Al Jazeera? That’s a fairly simple
question. The network is owned by the Qatari government, which is run by the Al
Thani family. The U.S. State Department describes Qatar this way:
Qatar
is an hereditary constitutional monarchy governed by the ruling Al Thani family
in consultation with a council of ministers, an appointed advisory council and
an elected municipal council.
It’s
a kingdom — complete with a royal family that controls massive wealth from
their substantial oil and gas reserves. Will “Al Jazeera America” (one
reported new name of the channel) keep any of the programs from the Current TV
lineup? Perhaps a better phrasing of that question would be: Why would Al Jazeera keep any of the
programs from the Current TV lineup? Most reports about the sale have
mentioned that the Qatar-owned outlet was buying Current
TV not for its programming but for the access to an estimated 42 million cable
TV households that carried it. If cable operators allow Al
Jazeera to simply slide into Current’s channel position, that increases its
potential audience nearly tenfold. However,
that plan was also hit with a significant body shot this week: Almost
immediately after the sales was announced, cable giant Time Warner — the fourth-largest
provider in the country — announced that it was dropping Current TV from
its systems.

Obama: More Tax
Increases Possible to Reduce the Deficit by
Madeleine Morgenstern
President
Barack Obama said he’s willing to consider more spending cuts to lower the
deficit, as long as they’re coupled with more tax reforms. Using Saturday’s
weekly address to praise Congress’ last-minute deal to avert the “fiscal cliff,”
Obama said it’s “just one more step” in the larger effort to boost the economy
and reduce federal deficits. He said this week’s deal raised taxes on the
wealthiest Americans while preventing a middle-class tax hike that could have
thrown the country back into recession. “I believe we can find more places to
cut spending without shortchanging things like education, job training,
research and technology all which are critical to our prosperity in a 21st
century economy,” Obama said, speaking from Hawaii where he is finishing his
holiday vacation with his family. “But spending cuts must be balanced with more
reforms to our tax code. The wealthiest individuals and the biggest
corporations shouldn’t be able to take advantage of loopholes and deductions
that aren’t available to most Americans.”
Obama
fired a warning shot to members of Congress over what’s shaping up to be the
next big partisan battle: the debt ceiling, which must be dealt with by the end
of February. “One thing I will not
compromise over is whether or not Congress should pay the tab for a bill
they’ve already racked up,” he said. “If Congress refuses to give the United
States the ability to pay its bills on time, the consequences for the entire
global economy could be catastrophic. The last time Congress threatened this
course of action, our entire economy suffered for it. Our families and our
businesses cannot afford that dangerous game again.” Note: There was then as there is now plenty of
Federal Revenue to pay the U.S. liabilities.
Obama is using the politics of fear.
Don't listen to him!!

White House Plans
Broad Gun Control
The
White House is weighing a far
broader and more comprehensive approach to curbing the nation’s gun
violence than simply reinstating an expired ban on assault weapons and
high-capacity ammunition, according to multiple people involved in the
administration’s discussions. A working
group led by Vice President Biden is seriously considering measures backed by
key law enforcement leaders that would require universal background checks for
firearm buyers, track the movement and sale of weapons through a national
database, strengthen mental health checks, and stiffen penalties for carrying
guns near schools or giving them to minors, the sources said. To sell such
changes, the White House is developing strategies to work around the
National Rifle Association that one source said could include rallying
support from Wal-Mart and other gun retailers for measures that would benefit
their businesses. White House aides have also been in regular contact with
advisers to New York Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg (I), an outspoken
gun-control advocate who could emerge as a powerful surrogate for the
Obama administration’s agenda.

Have You Ever
Wondered What Compels Your Conservative Relatives to Vote the Way They Do?
By Ryan Howes
Jonathan
Haidt interview | By the time you’re reading this, the 2012 election
will have been decided, and we’ll all have had our fill of the partisan rancor
that’s become commonplace in politics. Perhaps you yourself have had the
experience of getting lost in an argument in which you became exasperated that
people on the other side couldn’t see what was so obvious, despite your best
efforts to reason with them.
When
caught in the stalemate of a political debate, the advice of Jonathan Haidt, author of The
Righteous Mind: Why Good People Are Divided by Politics and Religion and
a social psychologist in the New York University Stern School of Business,
is to save our breath–or at least recognize that what we think we’re arguing
about isn’t really what we’re arguing about. Haidt believes that most political
debates, at least the way they’re usually conducted, are useless because the
underlying issues aren’t what they appear to be on the surface. Politics, he says, is ultimately about
our stance on fundamental moral beliefs and group loyalties–things that aren’t
usually influenced by facts, figures, or rational policy debate. In the
interview that follows, he offers a perspective on why we vote the way that we
do that differs from what you’re likely to read about in our mainstream election-season
coverage.
RH: Your book is based on the idea
that most of us don’t understand the true roots of political differences. What
are we missing?
Haidt: People often assume that
politics is primarily about self-interest. They wonder why someone would vote
for a candidate who’s going to raise their taxes or cut their benefits. But politics, especially at the
presidential level, is more like religion than a shopping excursion.
Despite all the individualism and materialism within our culture, our group affiliations matter deeply to most of
us. Politics begins to make more sense when you understand it as a tribal phenomenon.
RH: So, in politics, group membership trumps individual need?
Haidt: Yes. The more we care about our ethnic
group, our city, our state, our occupational group, the likelier we are to vote
for politicians who we believe will advance those interests, even when they
diverge from our individual interests. For example, it’s striking how
many liberal parents with children weren’t more opposed to forced school
bussing in the 1970s. Politics is
largely about moral missions for the nation, and the president is expected to
be the high
priest of the American civic religion. It can be illuminating to
see the left and right in this country
as practicing different civic religions, and looking to very different high
priests.
RH: From a moral standpoint, what’s
the difference in the outlook of the left and the right?
Haidt: To begin with, left and right have different
understandings of fairness. The left tends to focus on equality, with an
emphasis on equality of outcome. In contrast, the right cares exclusively about proportionality of outcome: if
outcomes are equalized when deservingness isn’t the same, they
consider that an abomination. This is why welfare is such a contentious
issue. When social conservatives look at
people who might have contributed to their own sorry state, they’re deeply
offended by the thought of bailing them out, but on
the left, compassion for those who are suffering is more widespread. There’s a
basic difference in moral attitude about how each side thinks about “fairness.”
RH: But fairness is often raised by
both sides in debating social-justice issues, like gay marriage.
Haidt: The left tends to focus on victim groups–on people whom they see as being treated badly and denied opportunity.
We’ve had several civil-rights revolutions in this country since the ’60s,
first for African Americans, then for women, and then the disabled. Gay people
are pretty much the last group against whom it’s legal to discriminate. That’s become one of the central issues for
the left in recent years.
Note:
This inclusion is to make sure each of us know in first person the perversity
of thought that exists on the left. It
may also confirm what many understand about the left. Like it or not, Jonathan Haidt is a spokes
leader for the left and they BELIEVE what is said.

Using Your Talent by Phil Robinson
A
New Year is upon us! It has become a popular custom that many people make a New
Year’s resolution, setting out a personal goal, a project they would like to
complete, or perhaps a bad habit that they would like to break. Personally, I
am not a big fan of New Year’s resolutions because if there is something that
you need to change in your lifestyle to serve God better, you shouldn’t wait
until the New Year to do so—and a recent survey showed that 88% of people don’t
even keep them. However it is a good opportunity to focus the mind on how
we could better use our talents in the year ahead. In Matthew
25:14–30 we can read the Parable of the Talents, in which
Jesus teaches on what He expects from Christians as we faithfully wait for His
return. It is not to be a period of inactivity, but one of going about the
Master’s business as diligently and forthrightly as we can, using our ‘talents’. In the parable, “Though
a talent is not a capacity or skill, as in the English usage, nevertheless the
English meaning is useful because in the terms of the parable the monetary
represents far more than money. It stands for the sum of all our God-given
abilities, resources and opportunities.” Jesus teaches that all
Christians have been given different degrees of responsibilities and abilities,
and that He expects us to use them wisely to further His kingdom. Looking
back - 2012 was yet another big year
of pushing the evolution story and the ‘religion is evil’ mantra. How will
you respond to this push in 2013?

Why do so Many
People Commit Suicide? by
Seth Adamson
It
is obvious that suicide rates, particularly in young males, have escalated in
the past several decades. The causes are widely debated but the connection to
evolutionary teaching would not necessarily be made by many. But the two
situations are real; as the
evolution-as-fact dogma has reached saturation point in education and the
public arena, so suicide has increased exponentially throughout the world. Researchers have made the connection
between religion and fewer suicide attempts. They found that those who held to
a religious affiliation—and were depressed—were less likely to kill themselves:
“[The] greater moral objections to suicide and lower aggression level in
religiously affiliated subjects may function as protective factors against
suicide attempts.”….

Do You Believe This
Garbage?… Obama Resorts to Outright Lies in Weekly Address by Jim Hoft
This
is how Barack Obama opened his Weekly
Address this week:
"Hi,
everybody. Over the past year, as I traveled across the country campaigning for
this office, I told you that if I was fortunate enough to be re-elected, I’d
work to change a tax code that too often benefited the wealthy at the expense
of the middle class. This week, we did that. For the first time in two
decades, we raised taxes on the wealthiest 2% of Americans in a bipartisan way,
while preventing a middle-class tax hike that could have thrown our economy
back into recession. Under this law,
more than 98% of Americans and 97% of small business will not see their
income taxes go up one dime… "
Now here’s the truth:
** Under the new fiscal cliff plan workers making less than $30,000 a year will take a bigger hit than those making $500,000 a year.
** The fiscal cliff bill that passed the US Senate and the US House will raise payroll taxes from 4.2% to 6.2%. In other words those making $100,000 a year will see their taxes increase by $2,000.
** The bill raised taxes on 77% of American households.
** Under the new fiscal cliff plan workers making less than $30,000 a year will take a bigger hit than those making $500,000 a year.

It would be nice if the
liberal media would hold this man’s feet to the fire...just once. Why does he do these blatant acts? He knows the low information voter will
simply take him at his word. They would
ask "Why would the President of the United States lie?"
