Reality Check A Must Watch: Are Calls for Stricter Gun Laws Really About Guns? Watch here
~~~~~~
Armed Protection For Democrats, But Not For Schoolchildren
Well,
what is more insane: to ask gun owners to turn in their guns to the government,
as Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee did, and expect not only that
good people will comply, but that people intent on killing will comply (“Aw,
gee, I really wanted to shoot up that mall today, but the government’s asking
me to turn in my gun, so nevermind”); to expect the government to outright
confiscate guns, as MSNBC’s Ed Schultz suggested; or to have trained
professionals at the entrances of schools? Better question: Why do Democratic politicians, who receive the
taxpayer-funded protection of armed security, want to keep women and
children from being protected by armed security?
Lanny Davis,
Organized Labor and Another Moment of Leftist Dishonor By Steve Pauwels
I try to be
objective, honestly I do. So, much as I recoil viscerally from the tenets of
contemporary Leftism, I have to acknowledge a few of its more adroit
proponents can impressively make its case.
Regrettable?
Certainly; but a few of them actually manage it. Lanny Davis, former special
counsel to one President William Jefferson Clinton, is another prominent Lib
who does his wrong-headed cause proud. Oddly, if one overlooks his
till-the-sun-burns-out, shame-free flackery for Bill and Hill and generally
unqualified devotion to Progressivism’s abhorrent creeds, Davis comes across as
a comparatively decent fellow. Occasionally, he’ll even allow this or
that aspect of his Democratic party is not altogether swell — but only very
occasionally. So, when I heard the otherwise affable, silkily
confident Davis – when confronted with labor union violence
against “right-to-work” opposition – exploiting a familiar and
reprehensible Lefty canard? I knew the Left was plumbing new depths of
infamy.. Most have heard about the knife-wielding mobs of
“big-labor” troglodytes’ tearing down an “Americans For Prosperity” tent
last week at a Lansing, Michigan protest. Video abounds of pro-union thugs
jack-hammeringly shrieking obscenities and threats of physical injury. One
frenzied demonstrator, opting to go beyond the merely rhetorical, charged and
repeatedly punched conservative journalist/documentarian Steve Crowder. Lanny
Davis, appearing on Sean Hannity’s television program that Tuesday night,
retreated to a play on the tedious, y’know-bad-things-happen-on
all-sides-of-the-political-spectrum distraction. To his credit, the
former-Clintonite Fox News contributor did plainly repudiate “the
violent attacks on anybody who dissents” — but moments later he just
couldn’t resist the knee-jerk Left-wing impulse to level a finger at alleged
Right-wing atrocities, as well. We see it ad infinitum from the Progressives,
particularly since Barack Obama ascended to POTUS: the racist Tea
Partiers! The dangerously angry Republicans! The
menacing conservatives! “I’ve seen violence on the right,” Davis muttered
passionlessly to Hannity. When Sean
dogged him, a number of times, to provide identifiable examples of Labor-like
brutishness from the precincts of conservatism, Davis succumbed to a
glaringly uncharacteristic loss of words. Stumbling around polemically for a
moment — “Extremists at those Tea Party sessions about Obamacare were somewhat
over the top” was the best he could sheepishly provide — he then, literally,
invited fellow guest Pat Buchanan to chime in: “Go ahead, Pat.”. Which Mr.
Buchanan mercifully did – maybe because he felt flatly embarrassed for the
typically articulate, but suddenly clearly befuddled, Lanny Davis. And
embarrassment would be one appropriate reaction, to be sure. I genuinely
don’t enjoy watching anyone — including popular, go-to Liberal
apologists — suffer open humiliation. That’s not the only emotion I feel, though:
exasperation at modern Progressives would be another. For their
unbudging, ideologically-fueled refusal to denounce — without
qualification, without diversion — dishonorable behavior among their ranks .
Remarking during the Hannity broadcast on the foam-flecked punks
bellowing junior-high-worthy profanities in front of Michigan’s State Capitol,
Ann Coulter incredulously wondered aloud, “Don’t these men have daughters or
wives at home?” A
concise and devastating rebuke. Coming from politically Liberal
Lanny Davis — or Barack Obama — it would have packed an even more stinging,
more commendable wallop.
Mass Shootings—What the Experts are Missing
Those
who murder all have one thing in common, says Christian Answers® Team
Member Ray Comfort—and producer of a new movie on the death of the
Beatles’ John Lennon. A young man massacred 26 people—mostly little kids—at an
elementary school in Newtown, Connecticut. This is the second deadliest school
shooting since the 2007 Virginia Tech massacre claimed the lives of 32 people.
Just two days before the Connecticut shooting, a lone gunman had entered a
crowded mall in Portland, Oregon, killing two people and wounding a 15-year-old
girl, before taking his own life. In what appeared to be a random
rampage, police noted that the killer, Jacob Tyler Roberts, 22, had no
significant criminal history. His mother said that she had “no understanding or
explanation” for what he did and that it was “so out of his character.”
According to a statement issued by the shooter’s high school, “The motive for
such a horrific act is likely to remain a mystery to us all.” Most experts are
as baffled as those who knew Roberts. However, Ray Comfort, the producer of a
new movie called “Genius,” believes he knows why people are willing to take
innocent life. Comfort said, “His friends say that Roberts was a nice guy and
that he lost his job and broke up with his girlfriend. No doubt the Connecticut
killer suffered some sort of rejection, also. But those things have happened to
millions, and they haven’t gone out and murdered people.”
The best-selling
author and TV co-host added, “‘Genius’ points to what every murderer has in
common, something the ‘experts’ either don’t recognize or avoid talking about.
But it’s there.” In the movie, which is about John Lennon and why he was
killed, 15 youths are asked if they would murder, and those who said yes all
had one thing in common. “Something tragic is happening in our country,”
Comfort noted, “and most people don’t know what it is. Those who want to
understand why these tragedies are occurring—and are likely to continue to
occur—should watch the free movie.”
Emergency Motion Filed: National Archives Caught Altering Hawaii Arrival Records For 1961
WASHINGTON D.C. –
The multifaceted litigation that Montgomery Blair Sibley has initiated in an
attempt to get to the truth regarding the birth records of Barack Hussein Obama
II has both produced fruit and met judicial stonewalling. Yesterday, Sibley
filed an Emergency Second Motion for Order to Release Privacy Act Protected
Records. That motion presented photographic evidence to Judge Bates that
someone has tampered with the evidence related to Obama’s putative birth in
Hawaii on August 4, 1961. Sibley had subpoena from the National Archives the
“Arrival Records” for August 1 through August 10, 1961, of all passengers
arriving in Honolulu, Hawaii to see if records existed that Obama and his
mother arrived in Hawaii during that time frame. What NARA produced were two
microfilm spools of the arrival records for July 28 through August 1, 1961 and
August 8 through August 12, 1961. As detailed in the Emergency Motion, the
original date on the box of “August 7” has been altered by “white-out”
and a new date of “August 1” had been written on the box. Proof of that
alteration comes from a photograph of the same box taken nine months earlier
which reveals the date was originally “August 7”. Thus, indisputably the
box has been tampered with – a criminal offense – to hide the fact that the
microfilm for the August 2 through August 7, 1961 arrivals is now missing.
Judge Bates continues to ignore Court Rules and stonewall the resolution of
Sibley’s pending Motions for a Contempt against: (i) Obama 1st and Obama 2nd,
(ii) Harvard Law School, (iii) the Social Security Administration, (iv) the
Selective Service System and (v) the State Department.
Leftists Exploit
Pain for Political Gain
The last thing we want is a political fight.
But even so, we won't stand idly by while some use Newtown's pain to justify
taking away our Liberty. Evil exists in the world, and
yet too many people seem shocked that an evil man would take the lives of 20
six- and seven-year-old children, six adults at the school and even the life of
his own mother. That isn't to say that the horrific crime isn't shocking, but
it is to say a sober view of reality is needed.
We must begin by considering the terms of the debate, and refusing to
cede the field to leftists. For example, we must not use the Left's lexicon
when referring to crimes where assailants use guns. The
sociopath who used a gun to kill kids in Newtown was not a "shooter"
or a "gunman." Such words only put the emphasis on the tool, rather
than the perpetrator. When we head to the range, we are shooters and gunmen.
That sociopath was an "assailant" and "murderer." When Nancy
Pelosi warns hysterically of "assault magazines," or when Carolyn
McCarthy refers to a barrel shroud as "the shoulder thing that goes
up," they have shown themselves to be incapable of good judgment on the
issue. Rifles such as the AR-15 are not "assault weapons." The
Defense Department says, "Assault rifles are short, compact,
selective-fire weapons [i.e., machine guns] that fire a cartridge intermediate
in power between submachine-gun and rifle cartridges. The AR-15 is a
civilian semi-automatic weapon that fires intermediate-powered rounds --
one for each distinct pull of the trigger. Such rifles aren't
"high-powered," either. Indeed, they aren't legal for deer hunting in
many states because their firepower isn't sufficient to reliably take down a
deer.
55% Favor Assault
Weapons Ban, But 62% Oppose Complete Gun Ban
Most Americans favor taking
semi-automatic and assault-type weapons off the market but also are wary of a
society in which only the government has guns. Very few would opt for a neighborhood
where they couldn’t own a gun. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone
survey finds that 55% of American Adults think there should be a ban on the
purchase of semi-automatic and assault-type weapons.
Limited treatment
is an issue by Dr. Paul Keck is president
and CEO of the Lindner Center of HOPE
The Sandy Hook
Elementary shooting was a horrific tragedy. Tragedies like this should not
have to occur in order for the country to turn its attention to the root cause
of violent acts of this caliber – untreated mental illness. The United
States would have fewer mass killings if individuals with severe mental illness
had access to and received proper treatment. Whether a serious mental illness
was involved in the Newtown tragedy has not been confirmed. We do know that
mental illness exists in every part of the United States. One in five adults
reported suffering from mental illness within the past year, with one in 20 reporting serious mental illness that resulted
in “functional impairment,” according to the latest annual National Survey on
Drug Use and Health Report. Of the 7.7 million Americans with severe mental
illness, only half are getting
treatment. Of the half of those with severe mental illness not receiving
treatment, 350,000 become societal problems, as they account for one-third of
the homeless population, one-fifth of the prison inmates and one tenth of those
who commit homicides. Since 2009, four shooting rampages have occurred,
while mental health care continues to be negatively impacted by budget cuts,
closures, stigma and lack of coverage from insurers. Mental illness is our
country’s No. 1 public health problem. Conservative estimates from the United
States epidemiological surveys indicate that 2.5 times more Americans will suffer from a major psychiatric
disorder in their lifetimes, compared with cancer, heart disease and diabetes
combined. Mental illnesses are not a hazard to society; it’s untreated
mental illness that becomes dangerous. Mental illness is highly treatable,
yet access to care is growing increasingly limited. Of the 60 million
American adults suffering from mental illness, only about one-fifth will
receive adequate treatment in their lifetimes, the National Institute of Mental
Health said in 2009. Isn’t it time we make a shift toward addressing this
issue, rather than continuing to turn our focus on the wrong issues?
Gallup: Americans
Think Armed Police at Schools More Effective Than Assault Weapons Ban
A new Gallup poll
shows the majority of Americans believe armed police stationed at schools would
be the most effective way to prevent and stop school shootings. They also
believe spending more money on the mental healthcare system would help prevent
another Sandy Hook. Americans are most likely to say that an increased
police presence at schools, increased government spending on mental health
screening and treatment, and decreased depiction of gun violence in
entertainment venues would be effective in preventing mass shootings at
schools. Americans rate the potential effectiveness of a ban on assault and
semi-automatic guns as fourth on a list of six actions Gallup asked about.
Gun-ban Chicago:
Nearly 15,000 murders since 1990
Oct. 28, 2012, the
city of Chicago surpassed the previous year’s number of murders (433), when a
man, identified as 68-year-old Bariffe Fitz, was found shot to death in a home
on the city’s South Side. A few hours later, another man died at Northwestern
Memorial Hospital after being shot multiple times. Following the grisly
milestone, Mayor Rahm Emanuel told CBS Chicago:
“We have other milestones. One is, overall crime is down 9 percent in the
city, the single-largest drop on record. Second, we’re tearing down the 200th
building where gang bangers and drug dealers hang out.”
Obviously, the fact
that life in Chicago is as cheap as the guns that are illegally sold in the
streets of that city has no bearing on the mayor’s conscience. The following is
the number of murders which have taken place in Chicago since 1990: 1990: 851,
1991: 927, 1992: 943, 1993: 931, 1994: 929, 1995: 827,
1996: 789, 1997: 759, 1998: 704, 1999: 641, 2000: 628,
2001: 666, 2002: 647, 2003: 598, 2004: 448, 2005: 449,
2006: 467, 2007: 442, 2008: 510, 2009: 459, 2010: 436,
2011: 433, 2012: 489 (As of Dec. 21) Since January 1, 1990, an
astonishing 14,973 people have been murdered in Chicago. Even worse, many
of the victims have been children. There have been 62 school-aged children
murdered in that city in 2012, alone. Of course, it could have been worse,
since an astounding 446 children have actually been shot this year. The
following case is fairly typical in the city that is now more dangerous than
Baghdad: In July 2010, a 13-year-old boy was
shot 22 times by a masked gunman. The killer emerged from a darkened, overgrown
vacant lot and pumped round after round into rising eighth-grader Robert
Freeman Jr. while he was riding his bike. Was this
guy mentally deranged? Ya think?
NRA’s LaPierre:
‘Monsters' on Streets Pose Threat, Not Guns By: Amy Woods
The country does not
need “one more law on top of 20,000 laws” that aims to control gun ownership in
response to the mass killings at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown,
Conn., the CEO of the National Rifle Association said Sunday. Wayne LaPierre,
who participated in a lengthy interview on NBC’s “Meet the Press” with host
David Gregory, said the root of violent outbursts in the United States remains
“monsters walking the streets” who instead should be institutionalized by a
failing mental-health system. “I’m telling you what I think will make people
safe, and what every mom and dad — will make them feel better, when they drop
their kid off at school in January, is if we have a police officer in that
school — a good guy, that if some horrible monster tried to do something,
they’ll be there to protect them,” LaPierre said. “If it’s crazy to call
for putting police and armed security in our school to protect our children,
then call me crazy. “I think the American people think it’s crazy not to do
it,” he continued, “It’s the one thing that would keep people safe, and the NRA
is going to try to do that.” “I know there’s a media machine in this
country that wants to blame guns every time something happens,” LaPierre said. “Let’s
make our kids safe. Let’s not argue about this endless argument about gun
control.”
He stopped short of saying the NRA would help foot the bill for the extra police duty and instead pointed the finger at the federal government. “Why can’t we protect our most precious resource,” he said. “With all the money in the federal budget, if we can’t come up to do this, there’s something wrong in this country.” The school-based armed-security force could comprise a voluntary corps of retired police officers, military personnel and Secret Service agents, La Pierre suggested. When Gregory asked whether the NRA would support any new gun laws, including limits on rounds of ammunition and high-capacity magazines, LaPierre countered, “It’s not going to make any kid safer.” He called for an overhaul of a “mental-health system completely and totally collapsed” and the creation of a working database to keep track of adults with such illnesses. “You can’t legislate morality,” La Pierre said. “Legislation works on the sane. Legislation works on the law-abiding. It doesn’t work on criminals. There are monsters out there every day, and we need to do something to stop them.”
‘Three
Strike’ Mental Illness Violence Law May Have Prevented Adam Lanza Slaughter by Kevin Fobbs
Why purposely avoid
holding the gunman’s mental instability responsible? Should any dangerous
behavior factors or legislation that could have been in place to prevent this
terrible murderous outbreak be considered? What if there had been a ‘Three
Strike Rule’ in place for Adam Lanza, which allowed automatic involuntary
commitment by mental health authorities? Mothers, fathers and siblings need
this kind of solution that will not make them the next horrific headline in
America’s homes. Yet, it
has been the mainstream media, along with the urgency of the gun control first
responders to keep overlooking the obvious. This disturbed gunman may have used
guns as weapons to kill, but it was his mental illness that was the true deadly
assault weapon! The
harsh reality is that in America, there are tens of thousands of families who
hide in their bedroom, kitchen or basement praying that someone in law
enforcement or the mental health community will intervene. These are the first
victims. They desperately wish someone would help restrain, or intervene when
their mentally unstable child, or young adult, continues to threaten or be
abusive. Why wait until he takes the possible next step toward nrestrained
deadly violence? The individual who perpetrates the criminal act should be the
legitimate focus, not the weapon he used. When this
type of violent behavior is identified the person should be involuntarily
removed before murdering family members and other innocents.
NBC Reports AR15
Not Used in Sandy Hook Massacre, Only Handguns
Original reports
were that 3 guns were found at the scene of the Sandy Hook elementary school
mass shotting in Newtown, Connecticut. Latest reports are that 4 handguns were
found inside the school.
Video shows authorities retrieving the
assault rifle from the trunk of Lanza’s car outside the school. But at a press conference today the Medical Examiner said, “All the
wounds I know of at this point were cause by the long weapon.” A reporter then
clairifed, “So the rifle was the
primary weapon?” The Medical Examiner replying, “Yes.” So the assault rifle found outside the school in the
trunk of Lanza’s car was used to kill every single person? And the 4 handguns
found inside the school weren’t used at all?
Historically,
Whenever The Government Grabbed Guns, It Went Bad for the People
· In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun control.
From 1929 to 1953, about 20 million dissidents, unable to defend
themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
· In 1911, Turkey established gun control. From 1915
to 1917, 1.5 million Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were
rounded up and exterminated.
· Germany established gun control in 1938 and from
1939 to 1945, a total of 13 million Jews and others who were unable to
defend themselves were rounded up and exterminated.
· China established gun control in 1935. From 1948 to
1952, 20 million political dissidents, unable to defend themselves were
rounded up and exterminated.
· Guatemala established gun control in 1964. From 1964
to 1981, 100,000 Mayan Indians, unable to defend themselves, were
rounded up and exterminated.
· Uganda established gun control in 1970. From 1971 to
1979, 300,000 Christians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up
and exterminated.
· Cambodia established gun control in 1956. From 1975
to 1977, one million educated people, unable to defend themselves, were
rounded up and exterminated.
Defenseless people rounded up and
exterminated in the 20th Century because of gun control: 56 million. You won’t
see this data on the US evening news, or hear politicians disseminating this
information. Guns in the hands of honest citizens save lives and property
and, yes, gun-control laws adversely affect only the law-abiding citizens. Take
note my fellow Americans, before it’s too late! The next time someone
talks in favor of gun control, please remind them of this history lesson. With guns, we are ‘citizens’. Without them,
we are ‘subjects’.
How Much Do Americans Know About Christmas?
If we only believed
as much as we celebrate!
When I was kid a
long, long, long time ago in a state far, far, far away, everyone knew that
Christmas was the celebration of the birth of Jesus. Yes, we had Santa
and presents and a tree, but the main focus was still on Christ. Several
centuries later, secular commercialism has taken over and fewer Americans know
what Christmas is all about. Some don’t even have a clue that it all
started with the celebration of Jesus’ birth. Many who do, have little
other knowledge like where was Jesus born, who were the three wise men and what
did they bring as gifts. How much do you know about the true meaning
Christmas? Do you know why Jesus was born in Bethlehem? I would
have been very curious to hear how those few who properly identified the gifts
the wise men brought, responded to the question of why those three gifts.
You see, as our nation drifts further and further away from its Christian
roots, we are also drifting away from the real meaning of Christmas. Myrrh was
an oil commonly used to anoint the crowning of a king. The gold was a
common tribute to kings and rulers. But the frankincense is the gift that
confused many. It was a strong perfume that was commonly used on the dead
to offset the smell of death, which made it an odd gift to present to a
newborn. The wise man or king who brought the frankincense knew that the
baby they were honoring would end up sacrificing his life and suffering the
taste of death that we all must experience. Christmas is not just a
celebration of Jesus’ birth, but a window to His future death on the cross. As
you gather with your family and friends this Christmas season, please take time
to read the account of Jesus birth in the Book of Matthew as it is the only one
that mentions the Magi and their gifts. Take the time to explain the
importance of their visit and what their gifts were and why they gave those
specific gifts. And don’t forget to link in Christ’s future death on the
cross for OUR sins. It will add so much meaning and richness to your holiday
if you do
