Of Course! Benghazi Still Matters  By Michelle Zook

It’s all over Fox News, Twitter and Facebook but most of the MSM is quiet about it. This close to an election, with a massive storm that has all but demolished the East Coast, is it still worth mentioning? And, as a mother with two little ones who could one day join the military, I have to ask myself: if anyone of those four men were my child, how would I want this handled? Regarding Trayvon Martin, President Obama once famously said, “If I had a son, he’d look like Trayvon. When I think about this boy, I think about my own kids.” And as I look at the pictures of the men who died at the consulate in Benghazi, part of me can’t help but think, “That could have been my husband. That could one day be my son (or my daughter).” So as a military veteran, as a military wife, and as a mother: yes, Benghazi still matters. It matters because it shows that while Joe Biden — and the rest of this administration — may claim that al Qaeda is dead because Osama Bin Laden is dead, they are naïve (to put it politely) and dead wrong (to put it bluntly). It matters because as more and more reports come out, by all accounts, our president left four Americans to die so he could get a good night’s sleep and campaign the next day.

Obama Met With Panetta and Biden at WH As Benghazi Terror Attack Unfolded By Terence P. Jeffrey

President Barack Obama met with Defense Secretary Leon Panetta and Vice President Joe Biden at the White House on Sept. 11, 2012 at 5:00 PM—just 55 minutes after the State Department notified the White House and the Pentagon that the U.S. diplomatic mission in Benghazi was under attack. The meeting between Obama, Panetta and Biden had been scheduled before the attack took place, and the Department of Defense is not commenting now on whether the three men were aware when they met that day of the ongoing attack or whether Obama used that meeting to discuss with his defense secretary what should be done to defend the U.S. personnel who at that very moment were fighting for their lives in Benghazi. “Secretary Panetta met with President Obama, as the White House-provided scheduled indicates,” Lt. Col. Todd Breasseale, a Defense Department spokesman, told CNSNews.com on Tuesday. “However, neither the content nor the subject of discussions between the President and his advisors are appropriate for disclosure.”

Report: Diplomats Warned Consulate Was Under Threat Month Before Ambassador's Death By: Todd Beamon

An “emergency meeting” was held by U.S. diplomats in Libya nearly a month before the deadly attack that killed four Americans because al-Qaida training camps were in Benghazi and because the consulate could not defend itself against a “coordinated attack,” Fox News reports. The revelations are based on a classified cable reviewed and reported by Fox on Wednesday. The emergency meeting was held on Aug. 15, and the cable summarizing the meeting – dated the next day – was marked “SECRET,” Fox reports. The cable, addressed to the Office of the Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, appeared to foreshadow the Sept. 11 attack on the consulate that killed U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans, Fox reports. It also appears to contradict White House statements that the attack occurred without warning – and in response to anti-Muslim sentiment over a video produced by a California real estate developer. According to the document, the U.S. State Department’s senior security officer – also known as the “RSO,” or Regional Security Officer – did not believe the consulate could be protected, Fox reports. “RSO (Regional Security Officer) expressed concerns with the ability to defend Post in the event of a coordinated attack due to limited manpower, security measures, weapons capabilities, host nation support, and the overall size of the compound,” the cable said.

Obama promised the federal government "will not quit"

"We are not going to tolerate red tape, we are not going to tolerate bureaucracy," Obama said. "And I've instituted a 15-minute rule, essentially, on my team. You return everybody's phone calls in 15 minutes, whether it's the mayor's, the governor's, county officials. "If they need something, we figure out a way to say yes." Why could he not say this to our people in Benghazi?  President, we are waiting?

Obama Support Collapsing Among Independents
In this last Resurgent Republic survey before the election, taken October 23-25, Mitt Romney has caught up with President Obama, and now leads the national ballot by 48 to 47 percent. The Romney advance has been driven by Independent voters who have moved toward Romney in the wake of the three Presidential debates.  President Obama defeated Senator John McCain among Independent voters in 2008 by eight percentage points (52 to 44 percent), one of the main reasons Obama won the presidential election. But this survey shows Obama’s support collapsing among Independents. Governor Mitt Romney leads Obama among Independents by 51 to 39 percent. If those numbers hold, that would mark a net 20-point turnaround for Obama among Independent voters in four years.

If I can live the dream, we all can

My story is based on the American Dream. My parents legally immigrated to the United States from Haiti with just $10 between them and they worked hard to establish themselves in America, raise three children, and put us through school. On the day of my college orientation, my father said something to me that I have never forgotten: "Mia, your mother and I never took a handout. You will not be a burden to society. You will give back."  This has been my guiding principle as a wife, mother, city council member, and Mayor. And with your support today, I will bring this principle with me to the United States Congress to restore prosperity and hope throughout America.

Obama’s Layoff Bomb

In June, a diffident and self-deluded President Obama claimed that “the private sector is doing fine.” Last week, the private sector responded: Speak for yourself, buster. Who needs an “October Surprise” when the business headlines are broadcasting the imminent layoff bomb in neon lights? The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported last Tuesday that employers issued 1,316 “mass layoff actions” (affecting 50 workers or more) in September; more than 122,000 workers were affected overall. USA Today financial reporter Matt Krantz wrote that “(m)uch of the recent layoff activity is connected to what’s been the slowest period of earnings growth since the third quarter of 2009.” Some necessary restructuring is underway in response to the stagnant European economy. But more and more U.S. businesses are putting the blame — bravely and squarely — right where it belongs: on the obstructionist policies and regulatory schemes of the blame-shifter-in-chief.

"Let each citizen remember at the moment he is offering his vote that he is not making a present or a compliment to please an individual -- or at least that he ought not so to do; but that he is executing one of the most solemn trusts in human society for which he is accountable to God and his country." --Samuel Adams (1781)
