Medicaid and Medicare Enrollees Now Outnumber Full-Time Private Sector Workers By Terence P. Jeffrey
The combined number of people enrolled in Medicaid and Medicare--the government health-care programs for the poor, disabled and elderly--now exceeds the number of full-time private sector workers in the United States. In 2011, according to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), there were 70.4 million people who enrolled in Medicaid for at least one month. There were also 48.849 million people enrolled in Medicare. That gave Medicaid and Medicare a gross combined enrollment of 119.249 million in 2011.  At the same time, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 112,556,000 people worked full-time in the United States in 2011. Of these 112,556,000 full-time workers, 17,806,000 worked for government (at the federal, state or local level) and 94,750,000 worked for the private sector.

American Crossroads video shows Obama misled public on Benghazi
There’s no doubt that CNN’s Candy Crowley did Barack Obama a huge favor by supporting his false “act of terror” narrative during the second presidential debate. Imagine if Obama had been forced to concede the truth right on that stage, in front of 65 million viewers. It would have crushed him; the election would be essentially over. The ripple effect through his dejected supporters and media boosters would have been devastating. And it’s not hard to see that Mitt Romney was a bit stunned by the moderator’s eager willingness to back up Obama’s lies. It threw him off his game, and gave the press fuel to describe the encounter as a draw, or even narrow Obama victory. Watch here

US Relied on Firm Using Unarmed Guards for Diplomatic Security in Libya
The State Department's decision to hire Blue Mountain Group to guard the ill-fated U.S. diplomatic mission in Benghazi, Libya, entrusted security tasks to a little-known British company instead of the large firms it usually uses in overseas danger zones.  The contract was largely based on expediency, U.S. officials have said, since no one knew how long the temporary mission would remain in the Libyan city. The cradle of last year's uprising that ended Muammar Gaddafi's 42-year rule, Benghazi has been plagued by rising violence in recent months. Security practices at the diplomatic compound, where Blue Mountain guards patrolled with flashlights and batons instead of guns, have come under U.S. government scrutiny in the wake of the Sept. 11 attack in Benghazi that killed U.S. Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens and three other Americans. State Department security officials had their own concerns about some of the guards at the mission months before the recent attack, according to emails obtained by Reuters this week. One guard who had been recently fired and another on the company's payroll were suspected of throwing a homemade bomb into the U.S. compound in April. They were questioned but not charged. The State Department has declined to comment on the company other than confirming it was the contractor in Benghazi. Several of Blue Mountain's Libyan employees told Reuters that they had no prior security training or experience. "I was never a revolutionary or a fighter, I have never picked up a weapon during the war or after it," said Abdelaziz al-Majbiri, 28, who was shot in the legs during the Sept. 11 assault. The Libyan commander in charge of the local guards at the mission was a former English teacher who said he heard about Blue Mountain from a neighbor. "I don't have a background in security, I've never held a gun in my life," he said, speaking on condition of anonymity out of fear for his safety

Graham: Obama Should Have Known Benghazi Was 'A Death Trap' By Greg McDonald
Sen. Lindsey Graham sought Wednesday to increase the pressure on President Barack Obama by suggesting he should have known the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya, was "a death trap" before the Sept. 11 attack that left four Americans dead. Graham, who wrote a letter to Obama on Tuesday demanding information about two previous attacks on the consulate, told Fox News' Greta Van Susteren the president should have known "that Benghazi was deteriorating over time" and was "a death trap for Americans" before U.S. ambassador Chris Stevens and three others were killed. "We were really the last flag flying in Benghazi. It was almost inevitable the consulate would be attacked. Everybody else had left," the South Carolina Republican said, referring to the Red Cross pulling out and the British consulate closing because it had been attacked once before.

Why the Sudden Swing in the Polls to Romney? by Gary DeMar
A lot of voters have not been following the presidential election. As the election nears, more people are beginning to pay attention. Those of you who read articles on this site know all the issues. A majority of American voters don’t. Now that they’re paying attention, they need a way to make their decision.  The so-called undecided voters are shifting to Romney because they see other people shifting to Romney. They now believe it’s OK to vote against President Obama and not be thought of as a racist. They feel comfortable following the pack.  There is also safety in numbers.  We are seeing notable people stepping in for Romney; popular public figures, Hollywood, women and others. People are tired listening to Obama’s blame shifting on the economy and his lame attempts to fix the economy by throwing their money at companies that only squander it. They’re fed up with the notion that if they disagree with an Obama policy, they are by definition a racist. They don’t like being lied to. Everybody knows that a never-seen film was NOT the reason our embassies were attacked and four Americans died.

Jobless Claims Skyrocket 46K To 388K by Tim Brown
While the September employment numbers were being manipulated, along with the previous two months’ numbers, something else was on the horizon. The weekly jobs claims skyrocketed from 46,000 last week to a “seasonally adjusted” 388,000. This is the highest number of applications submitted for unemployment benefits in four months. So I suppose that little failure to count the unemployment numbers correctly from California mixed up the numbers just in time for an October surprise, but the administration wasn’t counting on it coming back to bite them in the middle of October with a nearly 50K increase in jobless claims.

Rumsfeld: Blame for Benghazi 'Does Stop' With Obama By: Greg McDonald
Former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld dismissed Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's claim Monday of responsibility for the Sept. 11 attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, saying blame for the security failure in Libya "does stop" with President Barack Obama. "It does stop with the president, which she is not," Rumsfeld told Fox News' Sean Hannity Monday night. "On the other hand, the buck with respect to providing security is certainly within her area of responsibility, and it was a failure." Rumsfeld was referring to Clinton's statement in which she claimed "responsibility" for the failure to defend against the assault that killed U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans.  Rumsfeld said Clinton's statement that the blame should go no further than her office does not dismiss "responsibility for the way the White House has tried to cover this up and to manage it in a way that suggested that at first . . . it was a YouTube [video], that it was not anything to do with 9/11, that it was not anything to do with a planned attack with heavy weapons.  "I think the responsibility for that, as well as the responsibility for the secretary of state not providing appropriate security, does, in fact, fall to the president," he added.

Rumsfeld said the security failure in Benghazi was indicative of what he described as other failures of administration foreign policy, ranging from unfinished trade agreements with Latin American countries to the lack of a status of forces agreement with Iraq. "Can you imagine?" Rumsfeld asked, saying the president's decision to continue with his campaigning rather than focusing immediately on responding to the attack "suggests that that was his priority."  "He, obviously, was dismissive of the fact that four Americans had been killed and we'd seen what obviously was a terrorist attack," Rumsfeld said.

The countdown to Election Day continues. President Obama's much-improved performance in Tuesday night's debate seems to have stopped his downward trend in the polls but has not yet helped him regain lost ground. Republican hopes for a Senate takeover, on the other hand, are slipping away. Read More

Obama: ‘When Four Americans Get Killed, It’s Not Optimal’
President Barack Obama, during an interview shown on Comedy Central, has responded to a question about his administration's confused communication after the Benghazi attack, by saying: 'If four Americans get killed, it’s not optimal.' Obama was speaking to Jon Stewart of The Daily Show for a program that was broadcast last night. Stewart, a liberal whose young audience is full of potential voters prized by the Obama campaign, asked the president about his handling of the aftermath of the Benghazi attack. But Obama's response sparked outrage among Republican commentators including the website Breitbart and prompted a vicious backlash from the Twitter community.

Mom of Slain Diplomat: 'My Son Is Not Very Optimal — He Is Very Dead' By Todd Beamon
The mother of one of four Americans killed in the Sept. 11 attack on the U.S. consulate in Libya lashed out at President Barack Obama on Friday for saying the attack was “not optimal.”  “My son is not very optimal. He is also very dead,” Patricia Smith, 72, the mother of Sean Smith, told the Daily Mail. “It was a disrespectful thing to say, and I don't think it’s right. “How can you say somebody being killed is not very optimal? I don't think the President has the right idea of the English language,” she said.

Media silent on torture of Christian children
The West sighed in relief when Rimsha Masih, the 14-year-old Christian girl arrested in Pakistan on August 16 for allegedly burning pages of the Quran, was finally released.  Yet the West remains clueless concerning the graphic abuses—including rape and murder—Christian children in Pakistan routinely suffer, simply for being Christian.  Consider two stories alone, both of which occurred at the same time Rimsha’s blasphemy ordeal was making headlines around the world.  On August 14, another Christian girl, 12-year-old Muqadas Kainat (which means “Holy Universe”) was ambushed in a field near her home in Sahawil by five Muslim men who “gang raped and murdered” her.  At the time, her father was at a hospital visiting her sick mother.  He and other family members began a frantic search, until a tip led them to the field where his daughter’s body lay.  The postmortem revealed that she had been “gang raped and later strangled to death by five men.”  Police, as usual, did not arrest anyone.  As a Salem News report puts it, “Complicating matters is the fact that several Christian girls in this remote area have been raped and forced to both marry into the Muslim community and abandon their own religion, human rights groups report. … [T]here is a history in this part of Pakistan according to the Christian community, of local authorities failing to investigate cases of rape or other violence against Christians, often for fear of influential Muslims or militants.”

Romney Takes Lead In Electoral College for First Time
Mitt Romney took his first lead in electoral college predictions this week according to Real Clear Politics, with a 206 to 201 advantage and 151 electoral votes left as toss-ups. As polls have tightened since the first debate between Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney and President Barack Obama, analysts have altered their estimates and predictions to match who Americans say they plan to vote for. RCP averages several state polls and, depending on the size of a candidate’s lead and changes in poll numbers over time, determines which states appear to be likely wins or are leaning that way for a candidate. Of states polling solidly for one candidate or the other, RCP gives 13 to Romney, totalling 76 electoral votes, and 10 go to Obama, with a total of 142 votes.  The toss-up states, RCP said, are: Ohio, Florida, Pennsylvania, Virginia, New Hampshire, Michigan, Wisconsin, Iowa, Colorado, and Nevada.

CIA found militant links a day after Libya attack
WASHINGTON (AP) - The CIA station chief in Libya reported to Washington within 24 hours of last month's deadly attack on the U.S. Consulate that there was evidence it was carried out by militants, not a spontaneous mob upset about an American-made video ridiculing Islam's Prophet Muhammad, U.S. officials have told The Associated Press. It is unclear who, if anyone, saw the cable outside the CIA at that point and how high up in the agency the information went. The Obama administration maintained publicly for a week that the attack on the diplomatic mission in Benghazi that killed U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans was a result of the mobs that staged less-deadly protests across the Muslim world around the 11th anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks on the U.S. Those statements have become highly charged political fodder as the presidential election approaches. A Republican-led House committee questioned State Department officials for hours about what GOP lawmakers said was lax security at the consulate, given the growth of extremist Islamic militants in North Africa.
