The Right Lane 9.15.12

Day late and too many lives late!  The State Department has gone into full-blown crisis mode, organizing a round-the-clock effort to coordinate the U.S. government's response to the expanding attacks on U.S. embassies in the Middle East and North Africa. "The State Department has stood up a 24-hr monitoring team to insure appropriate coordination of information and our response. In addition, our consular team is working with missions around the world to protect American citizens and issue appropriate public warden information," a senior State Department official told reporters Friday afternoon.
"We have been monitoring events in the Middle East and North Africa intensively today, and working with our personnel and missions overseas and host governments to strengthen security in all locations and to respond effectively where protests have turned violent," the official said.

Daily Presidential Tracking Poll
The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Saturday shows Mitt Romney attracting support from 48% of voters nationwide, while President Obama earns 46% of the vote.

Carney: Protests not directed at the United States
White House press secretary Jay Carney said Friday the violent protests throughout the Middle East are not directed at the United States or U.S. policy but are a response to a YouTube video. The protests which began earlier this week have expanded rapidly across the Middle East on Friday.  Protesters attacked the U.S. Embassies in Tunis and Sudan; Tunisian protesters smashed windows and lit fires inside the embassy compound, while gunfire could be heard. Images of a dark column of smoke over the Tunisian site have circulated on the Internet Friday.  According to a page on the State Department’s website describing what an embassy is, an attack on an embassy is considered an attack on that country. “Because an embassy represents a sovereign state, any attack on an embassy is considered an attack on the country it represents,” the page reads.

WH Still Pushing ‘The Film Made Them Do It’ Narrative
Jay Carney is still pushing the story that an anti-Muslim film “forced” these “dedicated religious Muslims” to riot, burn, and murder. It’s the Geraldine Jones defense, made famous by comedian Flip Wilson: “The Devil made me do it.”  But instead of the devil, it’s some obscure film. A film doesn’t make anybody commit criminal acts.  These Muslim radicals don’t need an excuse to riot. There is so much anti-Muslim material on the internet that it’s hard to believe that some amateur film that’s been out since June and that few people have seen is what’s motivating these terrorists.  What’s shameful is that our government is falling for this and trying to convince the American people that bloodshed in the name of Allah is righteous because of some perceived religious offense. And so what if this film is all these Muslims say it is? Does this mean that they are justified in attacking our embassies and killing representatives of the United States who had nothing to do with the film? Give me a break.

Obama Politicizes Solemn Ceremony?
Okay, CNN’s cameras are there. The presidential podium is between four hearses. There are four ambulances. They’re waiting on the arrival of the bodies from Libya, and the doors to the back of the hearses are open. The graphic at the bottom of the screen: “Libya Victims’ Remains Returned to US.” I guess they got Obama off the campaign trail? Wait, wait a second. Are those the caskets? Okay. Those are the pedestals? Okay. It’s at Andrews Air Force Base. So here they come. Holy smokes! Obama, Biden, and Hillary are walking in as I speak, a solemn procession, leading the way. I guess that’s the ambassador’s wife with Obama, Biden, and Hillary, and they’re going to do, obviously, a show. I’ve never seen this before. I thought this didn’t happen. They’re gonna politicize this! They are politicizing the death of the ambassador and the other three. They’re turning it into a political show. I thought we didn’t do this anymore? I thought cameras weren’t allowed at Dover when military people arrive. Do you remember how the news media screamed bloody murder when Bush used a two-second photo of 9/11 in an ad? How did they convince Obama to come off the campaign trail? Folks, the fact that he’s doing this means that the NBC/Wall Street Journal poll is full of it. This means they’ve got polling that says they are in trouble. To have to pull Obama off the fundraising trail and bring him out here to greet the return of the bodies and have a show, or a ceremony.

Gingrich: Obama Doesn’t Realize Radical Islam Is at War With US
President Barack Obama is so wedded to his liberal policies that he can’t comprehend the meaning of the attacks against us in Libya and Egypt — radical Islam is at war with us, says former GOP presidential candidate Newt Gingrich.  The president and his Secretary of State Hillary Clinton condemned the “senseless” violence, he notes on Politico. “This concept of ‘senseless violence’ is at the heart of the left’s refusal to confront the reality of radical Islamists,” the former House speaker says. “These are not acts of senseless violence. These are acts of war. . . . It is tragic that the president is so committed to a leftist world view that he cannot allow himself to face these facts.” The attacks in Libya and Egypt almost certainly were coordinated, Gingrich writes. Yet, “the left is desperate to deal with each new incident as though it is occurring in isolation. . . . Because of congressionally-imposed limitations and administrative and bureaucratic timidity, the fact is we know remarkably little about our enemies.”

The president is much to blame, Gingrich argues. “The policies of Obama have made our intellectual incoherence and strategic incompetence even worse. It is no accident that the embassy in Cairo issued a groveling statement, apologizing to the haters for having inconvenienced them with American freedom of speech.” Look at White House policy in the Mideast in comparison to its policy at home, Gingrich says. “The Obama administration is waging war on the Catholic Church while appeasing the most extreme elements of Islam. This is the bizarre situation we now find ourselves in.”

Rand Paul: “Not One Penny More for Libya, Egypt or Pakistan Until They Act Like Our Allies”
Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky calls for foreign aid to be cut to Libya, Egypt, and Pakistan until they start acting like our allies. Sen. Paul calls for half of the money that would go to these countries to be put towards veterans benefits to help those who have risked life and limb to keep us, and those countries, safe.

US aid to Middle East questioned after anti-American attacks in region
Washington Democrats and Republicans are questioning U.S. taxpayer aid to the Middle East amid anti-American riots in the region and the fatal attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya.
One of the first attacks occurred Wednesday at the U.S. Embassy in Cairo, Egypt, a country that has received $1.6 billion in each of the past four years. Egypt has since 1979 been the second-largest recipient of U.S. aid, following Israel. Roughly $1.3 billion of that annual aid goes to Egypt’s military, according to Congressional Research Service.

Obama Doctrine: Brace for More Violence
Islamists around the world are setting their countries on fire. Tunisia: In Tunis, Islamist protesters jumped over the wall of the U.S. Embasy compound, broke windows and set fire to trees; police fired tear gas at the protestors in order to stop them. Many protestors were wounded. An American school has been set on fire. Sudan: Gunfire was heard at the U.S. Embassy. The German Embassy in Khartoum was invaded; 5000 protestors had circled the embassy as well as a nearby British mission. When the Islamists forced their way into the German Embassy, policemen simply stood aside. Lebanon: One person was killed and two wounded when security forces fired on protesters in the northern city of Tripoli and a KFC was burned. Yemen: Marines have been sent to the U.S. Embassy to ward off attacks. Jordan: In the capital, Amman, members of the Islamist demonstrated in front of the U.S. Embassy holding up flags reading “Only one God and Mohammed is his Prophet.” London: 200 protesters are burning USA and Israeli flags outside the US embassy in London.  "The Day I'm Inaugurated Muslim Hostility Will Ease"  Thanks Mr. President!!!

The Real Poverty in America is Moral Poverty  by David L. Goetsch
President Obama and his fellow travelers on the left like to lay a guilt trip on Americans by talking about poverty in our country.  By now you know the routine: “We need to pay more in taxes to take care of those Americans who are living in poverty.”  There is poverty in America.  I do not dispute this reality.  The real poverty in America is moral not economic, and moral poverty just exacerbates economic poverty and every other type of social problem. For example, liberals wring their hands in dismay every time some disturbed person takes a gun and shoots up a school, theater, or shopping center.  In kneejerk fashion, they blame these incidents on guns while ignoring the obvious.  If the shooters had any kind of moral foundation, they would never perpetrate these dastardly acts in the first place—no matter how many guns they might have.  Hundreds of thousands of gun-owning Americans manage to go through life without ever committing a crime of any kind, much less a gun-related crime because they have internalized the right moral framework.  Yet liberals are on a virtual quest to destroy America’s moral underpinnings.  America is living out the warning issued by Scottish professor Alexander Tyler all the way back in 1887, who said that great nations progress through the following sequence: 1) from bondage to spiritual faith, 2) from spiritual faith to great courage, 3) from courage to liberty, 4) from liberty to abundance, 5) from abundance to complacency, 6) from complacency to apathy, 7) from apathy to dependence, and 8) from dependence back into bondage.

Why Obama Has Abandoned Israel and Why Jews Should Abandon Obama By Wayne Allyn Root
Mitt Romney had an interesting, controversial, and completely ignored line during his speech at the Republican National Convention. Mitt said “Obama has thrown Israel under the bus.” Mitt knew something the rest of us didn’t. The story is shocking, as much for the betrayal of one of our strongest allies, as for the timing.  Obama has gone rogue. It’s been clear since day one, President Obama is no friend of Israel. But I thought his betrayal would be timed for sometime after the election- perhaps on a quiet Thanksgiving or Christmas holiday weekend. The fact he has openly thrown Israel under the bus BEFORE the election is a disturbing sign for Jews (and for all Americans who support the right of our longtime friend and ally Israel to exist). Can you imagine what Obama is capable of after the Presidential election- if he never again has to answer to Jewish voters?  As a Jew and a lifelong supporter of Israel, I would ask my fellow Jews to think long and hard at the voting booth on November 6th. Perhaps it is time to consider whether the historic voting patterns of Jews on behalf of the Democratic Party are in the best interests of the Jewish people? Is a vote for Obama, a vote condemning Israel to become a sitting duck in the name of political correctness? Even more importantly, is voting for Obama over social issues, or a woman’s right to choose, worth risking another Holocaust?  My conclusion: It’s time for Jews to abandon Obama, the same way Obama has abandoned Israel.

We Live Daily with Taxes Patriots Died Fighting to Prevent
Most of us don’t even really “see” how much we’re paying in taxes. I expect that if most of us paid no taxes on anything throughout the year, and then had to write out three checks every April (one county, one state, and one Federal) to pay all the taxes we would have paid throughout the year… there would be some serious unrest. We’ve been fooled. The Sons of Liberty who started the Boston Tea Party weren’t so easy to fool.  Perhaps many would say that there is a difference between our situation and the colonial one because they felt they were being taxed by a government in which they had no representation. We, on the other hand, get to elect our officials. But this is becoming less and less the case. The Department of Transportation, a bureaucratic Federal agency with government-appointed rather than popularly elected officials, is responsible for setting the Federal taxes on gasoline. Whether it is the IRS, the EPA, the FDA, or whatever other Federal Brobdingnagian you want to pull out of Leviathan’s hat, most of the taxes we pay go to agencies in which we have very little if any representation and over which we have almost no control. And those of us that pay taxes are paying exponentially more than the colonists would have ever dreamed was possible.  And it may not be the case that we need to have a unanimous tax revolt. The graduated income tax may actually be working in our favor in the end, as immoral as it is. If only ten percent of Americans are paying ninety percent of the taxes, we just need to convince the ten percent to say, “No more!” This is not “unpatriotic” as some may say (and have said). This is in fact in line with the original patriotism that gave this country birth. Not to mention that a tax revolt would have less environmental impact than dumping gasoline into the Gulf of Mexico…

Ryan says Obama panders to extremists on abortion
Republican vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan launched a broad assault on President Barack Obama in a speech to social conservatives on Friday, accusing him of pandering to extremists on abortion and emboldening U.S. enemies in the Middle East.  The Wisconsin congressman told the Values Voters Summit, an annual gathering of religious and conservative activists, that Obama had led a “reckless expansion of federal power” and waged economic class warfare. Declaring himself “a values voter, too,” Ryan mocked Democrats for their convention fight over the mention of God in the platform and questioned claims by Obama that “we’re all in this together.”
Study: Abortion Not Necessary to Save Mothers’ Lives
The argument for an abortion when a mother’s life is in danger is no longer valid. At least it’s not if you believe leading medical experts presenting their study findings at the International Symposium on Maternal Health held in Dublin, Ireland. Experts in obstetrics and gynecology, mental health and molecular biology concluded that direct abortion is not medically necessary to save the life of a woman with high-risk pregnancy, cancer in pregnancy or other issues. “We uphold that there is a fundamental difference between abortion, and necessary medical treatments that are carried out to save the life of the mother—even if such treatment results in the loss of life of her unborn child,” the group said. We confirm that the prohibition of abortion does not affect, in any way, the availability of optimal care to pregnant women.”

Muslims Killed Pastor for Showing ‘Jesus Film’ but no Media Outrage  By Gary DeMar
Americans have short memories or no memory of all since many stories never make it to the evening newscasts.  In 2003, Christian evangelist Hridoy Roy was murdered by a gang of eight men who attacked him at his home. The assailants stabbed Roy repeatedly after tying him “crucifixion style” to his bed. Roy was known for showing the popular “Jesus Film,” a word-for-word account from the book of Luke used for evangelism purposes worldwide.  Where was the media outrage about the showing of this film? There was no attack on Muhammad.
