Liberals Aghast That Romney Thinks They’re Dependent on Government
The latest “scandal” about Mitt Romney is that he was caught on tape talking to some of those evil wealthy supporters and admitting that almost half the country is so hopelessly dependent on the government that Romney feels he will never be able to convince them that being self-sufficient and independent is better [after being asked what will you do to get elected?]:
“There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what. All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it. That that’s an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what … these are people who pay no income tax. So our message of low taxes doesn’t connect. My job is, is not to worry about those people. I’ll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives.”
The Obama campaign response was so contrived it was laughable. According to Obama campaign manager Jim Messina:
“It’s shocking that a candidate for President of the United States would go behind closed doors and declare to a group of wealthy donors that half the American people view themselves as ‘victims,’ entitled to handouts, and are unwilling to take ‘personal responsibility’ for their lives. It’s hard to serve as president for all Americans when you’ve disdainfully written off half the nation.”
I don’t know about you, but I am shocked, shocked I say, to find out that Romney spoke the truth. It’s a terrible thing for a politician.  I don’t know when we turned the corner and accepted victimhood as a noble thing, but I’m really getting sick of it.

Romney defended himself and said Obama's "approach is attractive to people who are not paying taxes because, frankly, my discussion about lowering taxes isn't as attractive to them and therefore I'm not likely to draw them into my campaign as effectively as those who are in the middle."  "I hope the person who has the video will put out the full material," Romney said when asked about.

Anti-Islam Filmmaker Donated Million Dollars to Obama Campaign
Bill Maher made a comedy/documentary called “Religulous” that’s most famous for mercilessly mocking Christianity. But what people forget is that the last twenty-minutes or so of the film make a damning case against Islam.  Bill Maher made a film that mocked Islam. Bill Maher also contributed $1 million to a pro-Obama super PAC. And I’m sure that upon being reminded of this, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will tremble with self-righteous indignation and demand Maher take his money back. After all, if movies create the terrorists who in turn create the terrorism, what about Bill Maher?  Watch

Our Constitution Is Under Fire

Today, the federal government has acquired an all but unquestioned dominance over virtually every area of American life. It acts without constitutional limits and increasingly regulates our most basic activities, from how much water is in our toilets to what kind of light bulbs we can buy.  So while we face many challenges, the most difficult task ahead—and the most important—is to restore constitutional limits on government. Forty visionaries signed a piece of paper 225 years ago today that became one of the most vital documents in the world: the U.S. Constitution. By design, it limited the power of government under the rule of law, created a vigorous framework that expanded economic opportunity, protected national independence and secured liberty and justice for all. But how is that limitation of powers working today?

GOP to Romney: Why Aren't You Winning?
Republican activists are incredulous: Why can't Republican Mitt Romney seem to break open a tight race with President Barack Obama given the nation's sluggish economy and conservative enthusiasm to beat the Democrat?  "He ought to be killing Obama, and he's clearly not doing that," said 32-year-old R.J. Robinson, one of the thousands of activists attending the annual Values Voters Summit this weekend. "He should be doing better."  The bigger question may be: "What are YOU doing to help beat Obama?"

Surprise! Oversampling Dems Puts Obama in Lead
Obama’s convention bounce seems to have evaporated. Rasmussen today has Romney up 3 points. Today’s Gallup tracking poll had Obama up 5, a loss of 2 points over two days. Gallup uses a 7 day rolling average, so expect this number to continue to come down over the next several days. Undaunted, the media are trumpeting new polls with show Obama with 3 point lead nationally and significant leads in the battleground states of Florida, Ohio and Virginia. As is becoming routine, these new polls again oversample Democrats.
The loudest coverage is touting new NBC/WSJ polls of three key swing states. The polls, purportedly of likely voters, show Obama with 5 point leads in Florida and Virginia and a 7 point lead in Ohio. In VA and FL, the NBC poll assumes an electorate very similar to the one in 2008. In OH, the NBC poll assumes an electorate that is more Democrat than the one in 08. I get a bit tired of saying it, but that isn’t going to happen. The electorate will not be close to as Democrat as in 08, never mind being more Democrat.  There is something else funky with the NBC poll. There is almost no discernible difference between Registered Voter results and Likely Voter results. This runs counter to other polling, and history, which finds a definite Democrat skew to RV results. Even demographic and partisan data is virtually the same. This suggests there is something wrong with their LV screen  - All this to discourage you!  Don't let it, keep on with resolute determination.

To Whom does the First Amendment Apply?  Do You Know?  By Michael Minkoff
While many people regularly apply the First Amendment to just about any scenario where one individual wants to say his bit in front of a less than enthusiastic audience, the Amendment (and the whole Bill of Rights for that matter) was much more limited in its original intent.  Until the 1890s, the Bill of Rights was seen correctly as applying to the Federal government alone, not state or local governments, and certainly not private businesses or individuals. In other words, if a state wanted to tell an individual to shut up, it was constitutionally allowed to do so. Notice the wording of the First Amendment:
“Congress shall make no law…”

The First Amendment originally applied to Congress… the Bill of Rights was meant to delimit the power of the Federal government, nothing else. This changed with the incorporation doctrine.
When the victorious Union forces were crafting the Fourteenth Amendment, they had to figure out how to apply it to each of the states with a national edict. Given the previous interpretation of the Constitution, the Fourteenth Amendment would not have applied to individual states, so its framers wrote in the infamous “due process clause.” This directly barred state and local governments from interfering with the free exercise of the rights granted in the amendment. Since then, the due process clause of the fourteenth amendment has been used by the Supreme Court to apply the Bill of Rights, and pretty much every other amendment of the Constitution, to state and local governments.   This set a dangerous precedent that has not yet fully run its course. The First Amendment has been applied to the states and counties (thanks to the incorporation doctrine), but it has not yet been applied to private property and businesses. Not yet, I say, because this is the natural progression of its interpretation.  For now, it’s not the case that you are allowed freely to protest or say whatever you want on someone else’s property. A business owner or individual property owner has every right to tell someone on his property to be quiet or to leave. There are plenty of angry people that think any private infringement on their “freedom of expression” is a violation of their First Amendment rights. This just isn’t the case. And if and when it does become the case, it will not be a maintenance of the principles of liberty, but their undoing. There may come a time when, under the dubious auspices of the First Amendment, the Federal government outlaws religious expression in general. For now, this is not the case. Enjoy it while it lasts.

"We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America." --preamble of the Constitution of the United States of America.  Constitution Day 2012.  Sept. 17, 2012, marks the 225th anniversary of the signing of our Constitution at the Philadelphia (Constitution) Convention in 1787. The best way to honor the day might be to read it. It's up to "We the People" to hold our elected representatives accountable for failing to honor their oaths.

CNN Reporter Sends Obama Donation Request Form to Twitter Followers
This appears to be the height of journalistic malpractice.  On September 13, CNN political reporter Peter Hamby sent an Obama campaign donation request form to his Twitter followers. The link goes to a donation page to join Obama at a fundraiser in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on Saturday, September 22. If Hamby wanted to just report to his followers that Obama was heading to Milwaukee, he could have sent them a link to an Associated Press piece detailing such information without pushing them to a donation page:

Michelle Obama: ‘No One Gets Where They Are on Their Own’
(CNSNews.com) – In a campaign speech on Thursday in Fredricksburg, Va., first lady Michelle Obama said that “no one gets where they are on their own” because there is a village of people “lifting us up,” including teachers and janitors.  In her speech about the Obama family’s values, Mrs. Obama said, “We learned that the truth matters, so you don’t take shortcuts, you don’t game the system, you don’t play by your own set of rules. And we learned that no one gets where they are on their own; that each of us has a community of people who are lifting us up -- from the teachers who inspire us to the janitors who keep our schools clean.”

Ryan on Re-Electing Obama: ‘If We Renew the Contract…He’ll Never Answer to You Again’
(CNSNews.com) – In a speech at the Values Voter Summit, in Washington, D.C., GOP vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan said Friday that re-electing President Barack Obama will mean voters will get “the same deal with only one difference - in a second term, he will never answer to you again.”  “If Barack Obama’s promises weren’t good then, what good are they now? If we renew the contract, we’re going to get the same deal. If we renew the contract, we’ll get the same deal, with only one difference - in a second term, he will never answer to you again,” Ryan said during the summit, sponsored by the conservative pro-family group the Family Research Council. “In so many ways, starting with Obamacare, re-electing this president would set in motion things that can never be called back. It would be a choice to give up so many other choices,” he said. “When all the mandates of government-run health care come down, the last thing the regulators will want to hear is your opinion. When the Obama tax increases start coming, nobody in Washington is going to ask whether you can afford them or not,” Ryan added.
